That's pretty cool (no pun intended).

A few years ago, I'd seen pics of a guitar built in pretty much the same fashion (with the exception that the "patterns" on the top/back/sides were a bit more intricate). Supposedly, the builder was a merchant marine who knew NOTHING about guitar building/playing and just had a couple guitar catalogs for reference, a shitload of matches, and evidently a whole lotsa time . . .
