VT-8
And a VT-10
And a VT-11
What happened to VT-9? Could it be what's on mine? I just realized my bracing is close, but different in one place. It has no brace along the top, but instead has a brace from the left of the sound hole going up and in towards the neck a bit.
VT-9?
Weird.
Also, I felt that a brace has popped loose. You all think it would be OK to bring it to a local O-authorized repair place to fix? seems like it would be easy, but it is a '69-'70 Deluxe Balladeer (Really a first year Legend) and I want to be careful with it. |

Location: Scotland | Don't recall a VT-9 but there was a VT-6, used on Artist depth guitars (Artist Balladeer and Country Artist) but it wasn't around for long. I've never actually seen the VT6 pattern, but if that is what yours is, I guess it's possible that tops with VT6 bracing could have ended up on deep bowls. |

Location: Chicago | My '74 1117 has a VT 11 bracing pattern: the horizontal braces below the sound-hole don't meet, and two longest verticals extend "south east" without meeting the lower horizontal. Nor do they meet a smallish third horizontal in the south eastern corner (as in VT 10). The brace above the sound-hole is just like it is in the VT 9, VT 10, VT 11 diagrams above.
Grab a flashlight and mirror and grope! |

Schroeder: but groping is the best part! |

Worse, I discovered a big crack down the face of my guitar. From the rosette and under the bridge all the way to the bottom of the face near the strap button. :( Must've happened while I was gone this week, but I don't know why or why now. First crack I've had. I do not think it is lacquer either although I can't feel it on the inside. I think it'll need to be cleated and sealed. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it sounds better now than it did before. |

Can you see how close the main "lateral" braces are at their apex? |

Your bracing was supposed to be like this...
But the bracing towards the neck fell off,
and some amateur luthier glued it back on like this...
Which doesn't look like a logical bracing pattern to me anyway.
[but neither do most of the other VT's] |

Can you see how close the main "lateral" braces are at their apex? Just about an inch or a fraction more apart at the ends of both braces, which are shaved down. |

Location: Chicago | Just did another sound check: The 1117, in pure acoustic terms, domintaes, KO's any other guitar I own: it's twice as loud, dark and defined. I hope I'm as lucky as Dime was, to die with a guitar, THIS guitar in my hands!! No sh*t bros... |
