Location: Warren,Pa. | My Sweetwater T is getting a LOT of play time since I got it, and as I play it I think about the people who made it. This guitar represents the end of an era to me. Who knows what's next...but for me I can't help but think it's gonna be a disappointment; more about Fender making money and less about guitar-making passion.
So my newest Ovation is one of the last "lower-end" guitars off the line, and it is arguably the lowest-end model they've made in the last couple of decades. A lot of other companies would have spit these things out to get them out of the way and gone on to the new thing they're going to do...sortof like the last few cars off the line on a friday afternoon.
This lowly guitar looks to me like it was built with just as much care and pride of workmanship as any Custom Legend or Collectors Edition I've ever owned. I just wanted to let the folks at the factory know I appreciate what they do for me as a guitar lover...weather I spend $650 or $1,700.

If I didn't know you better I'd say you where drowning your sorrows down at the local pub, venting to the bartender while listening to some long haired, orange shoed guy imported from Jersey live out his rock & roll dream.

I don't think Kaman, even back in Bill's day, ever intended to be a non-profit organization. And as I recall from some past posts, Fender does recognise and appreciate music's "roots" better than others that might have ended up owning Ovation. Think what might have happened if some sort of non-musical investment group of accountants bought the company.
The jury is still out, so tip the guitar guy on the way out of that dingy bar and take a walk in the sunshine. It'll do you good. |

I guess I burried the lead a little. I meant to emphasize the quality thing...not so much the Fender thing. |
