Vipers just don't come any nicer than this particular instrument! This guitar was built in 1995 and is absolutely spotless other than some minor fretwear. The finish is great. The action is great. The sound is marvelous. You name it!

It has a fresh set of strings and is perfectly ready to be the BEST gigging guitar you've ever picked up!

It comes with its hard shell case which has some markings on it but is perfectly sound and closes/latches securely. The buckles and hinges show zero corrosion. The interior is just fine.

You will not be disappointed in this guitar. Feel free to ask questions. I'm asking $850 shipped in the continental U.S. I'll ship overseas but ask for a quote first. Thanks for looking everyone. And keep your eyes peeled for more to come.

You'll find a couple more pics besides the ones below RIGHT HERE.

I presume it's spruce as there is no custom indication on the label. But I swear it's the most koa-looking spruce I've ever seen ain't it?!

It looks like spruce with a bit of darker stain mixed into the clear coat. It has to the prettiest natural finish EA Viper I've ever seen. Just gorgeous. Somebody hurry up and pick this up before Dan sees it.

I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so I thought I would bump this for the evening. I have to ship two guitars before I leave, and I would love to make it three. Get in touch quick, I will have sporadic internet access at best for the next week.

I've never had the chance to play one of these... what do they play like as far as action goes? Acoustic/electric? Semi-Hollow electric?

Beautiful guitar Patch, I hope you sell it! (Though I secretly am jealous over the gorgeous blue one...)

Jonmark...

Why oh why did Ovation coat the back, just to get the O look, instead of the beauty of natural finish? My understanding was that you could have special ordered one w/o the coating and have natural finish.

I have seen one other like yours. Although I have never seen one with your battery cover.

Very nice!

It's a lot of work, but worth it. That black stuff is really tough and impervious to strippers.

Jay, I put the battery box there. Having to remove 3 screws onstage just to change a battery was not one of O's better ideas...

Sorry I derailed your thread Patch. Best of luck with this beauty.

Not that I have the money anymore, or that axe would be moving to my zip code. What's the status? Still for sale? I'd love to have one of those (the collection isn't complete yet).

Well, I've never had a guitar generate so much interest, including several offers that fell through for a variety of reasons, yet still manage to hang around this long.

I'm still accepting offers. (No low balls, even though I can't blame folks for trying. ;) ) I'm willing to take payments over 4-6 weeks if that helps.

I'm expecting a bill from John Budny any day now and need to move this along.

This is a beautiful guitar, but the problem with Vipers is that they are a specialty guitar. If you play on stage at high volumes, they are wonderful. If you're on stage and the volumes aren't that high, then do you really need them?

These days, for a lot of us, this guitar is a luxury that we just can't justify.

But having said that, whoever buys this one is getting one of the most beautiful Vipers I've ever seen......

While you are correct that they are great for high volume/arena work, PM, they have other strengths. I use my Viper as a lead instrument in acoustic oriented shows. They have a beautiful electric-like sustain... I believe due to the string thru body setup... that snuggles in with other piezo acoustics, but different enough to set it apart. They also lend themselves to very electric like setups. Mine plays like a 335 with X-lights.
Someone should step up buy this guitar so Patch can pay his bills and I don't have to keep lusting after it.

My Vipers are essential, as I sing & loop @ the same time..most other guitars will 'leak' thru & the muddled vocals play back thru the looper..I have to have a Viper type guitar..I've used the Crowdster, but it's too heavy & the Parker Fly bronze are very nice, but I always come back to the EAs. Make me an offer Patch:-)

Sorry I missed all of this guys. I'm traveling and don't get online much at the moment.

Sorry Scott, I really can't drop that far, but I can't blame you for taking a shot at it. And Dan, I haven't forgotten about you either. I'm waiting to hear from one other OFC'er, but no firm deals yet.

Dan, if you have a figure in mind, shoot me a PM. Of course, once I'm back home and everything is squared away, I'll see how the finances look and maybe we can haggle some more.

Until a firm offer comes in and is accepted though folks, this one is still eminently available.

Thanks again for all the interest! :)

Every line of interest has withered and died for this guitar. I'm flying its flag here one more time over the weekend, but if no one salutes, its getting banished to Ebay next week sometime.

Just so people know...

--I'm willing to listen to offers.
--I'm willing to do a layaway as long as it's paid for by mid-November.

Phew!

What a tough market right now!

Gotta agree with Jonmark here. The EA Vipers are terrific for acoustic-toned sustain. Maybe that's why GC continues to use one in his stage shows. The finish on Patch's looks like the color of honey, similar to some of the older vintage Ovation tops from the early 1980's. I've never seen another like this, and it was an excellent bargain at Patch's initial asking price. Anything less is a steal.

All offers appear to be officially dead! I'm working on the eBay ad now to put up tomorrow, but am willing to cut a deal here to avoid all the fees.

$749 gets it to your door unless you live overseas. YES, I can stretch payments to the second week in November. (I'll ship the guitar as soon as it's paid for, AKA Patch's Layaway.)

I really hate to sell this to a stranger, but I simply can't keep hanging on to it.

Somebody get in touch OK?

Talk about a last minute reprieve!

This one is staying in the family after all.

I got burned bad on eBay last time and was NOT looking forward to putting something this nice on there. I was seriously thinking of keeping this one and moving my Tamo Ash one; that's how nice it looks!

Hi Patch:
Stellarjim from the OFC here. Just wanted to check in with you to see if you still happen to have a Viper EA68 you're trying to sell. I know it's a longshot but thought it was worth asking.

Thanks!

Danomyte, I haven't had a guitar of any kind for sale in quite a while. To tell the truth, I wish I had held on to one of those EA's. I would have if I had known how bad my finances would change eventually. I always figured I could snag another one down the road, but I was wrong.

Sorry....I started all this trouble because I'm looking for a Viper and dug this string out of the archives.
I have a Viper 12 String and a Nylon string and love them both.
Would love to end up with the perfect Trifecta by adding an EA68 to the mix!
