Last I saw, Al still had some new 1581 Re-issues on his website. |

Last I saw, Al still had some new 1581 Re-issues on his website. I don't recall any Adamas ever with a shiny bowl (well, maybe the Q protos, I can't recall for sure). The only ones with a shiny bowl were the very earliest production Ovations ('66-'68) and then the select re-issues of those very early models, all wood-top Ovation nameplate. Adamas weren't introduced until 10 years after the shiny bowls stopped being produced.
But yeah, if you're looking for a 1581 RI, contact Al. It'll be new with full lifetime warranty. |

The exception to the rule..... |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I'd be willing to bet that MY 1581 is louder than the one on the slide show ... and I now have the Op Pro Studio installed (:
I call it my Big Blue Tone Cannon.
I'd let IT go, but not cheap. |

Looks like a custom order.... When you do a search for 1581-5 Adamas there are a couple internet dealer sites (musiciansfriend, music123, etc) that have this picture up. It's obviously incorrect. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | A shiny bowl 1680!?
I'm wondering if someone has taken photoshop to a standard photo of a 1680. The top looks a bit different to the standard photos of a 1680 (which often look quite different depending on the light/angle. The epis and top both look darker, which makes me think photoshop.
Edit: I just googled it and saw a shiny bowl 1680 advertised as a 1581-5 and it has a photo of the back which is both shiny and has a manhole. There is no manhole cover on the standard 1680 - therefore it can't simply be a photoshop job on a 1680. Curiouser and curiouser
