When someone posts "PM sent", that means "I am making an offer on this item so don't butt in" right? |

Okay then, what's the point of even posting "PM sent"? How about I post "I just took a sip of water."...I mean, who cares if you just sent a PM? To me the implication has always been "I'm making a bid and I would appreciate it if you all don't try to snake this deal out from under me." But if that isn't what it means, can we just lay off the "PM sent" posts? |

If I'm interested in something someone is selling, I try to hit them with an email, PM and a post "PM sent" to let them know I'm trying to get in touch with them.
...and "I just took a sip of water" would be on the milder side of some of the things that have been posted around here!

I've just never seen another person post "PM sent also" after one person sent one. I read more into it than I should have. |

I never thought of 'PM sent' as meaning "I was here first, everybody else piss off...".
Obviously, it's up to the seller to decide on what deal HE is making, and I think most view 'PM sent' as simply an expression of interest. |

If someone says "I'll take it." then that's pretty obvious. But just as worthy is something that makes an offer pending a specific detail that may have been missing from the ad. ("If the frets are good, consider it sold." for example.) They would have chronological dibs as well.
Otherwise, I'm with most of the other responses, "PM sent" is just a friendly prod to check your PM's in case you missed the little flashing notice. The content of the PM could be nearly anything. |

I don't want to piss anybody off when I post "PM sent",I only want to show the seller, I've sent him a PM.
I've sent Scott an old preamp, months ago, for his Country-Artist, he sent me back a PM with his address and the alert button don't show up for days. That is the only reason.

Bernie No, not you specifically. There's lots of "PM sent" posts, and I didn't know what it meant specifically. All is cool. (According to several people, I'm just a dips**t stirring things up. Me???) |
