The guitars are new with full factory warranty. they all come with the ovation hardshell case.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Wonderful guitar, terrific price. I paid almost this much for mine used when it was a year old, and I have no warranty. As my first Adamas, it was a nice way to become familiar with the line. Great tone, particularly lower end and midrange, which makes it superb for solo instrumentals when you have no bass or keyboards backing you up. It also is an excellent traveler, nearly bullet proof to temperature and humidity fluctuations. Here I am playing at an outdoor wedding in Mendocino four years ago.

Let me see if I got this right, a new single epi textured top Adamas with all the bells and whistles for the price of a Custom Legend? Uh, YEAH those'll last awhile.
Thanks Al for offering those here on the OFC. You know my shipping address. |

That was even crazier than Al's price on the Adamas. That's like a 2 for the price of one sale. |

| These are essentially identical to my 08C, except without the slothead, carved bridge, fancy fret markers, and gold leaf on the sound ring. Those things are just bling, anyway, and don't affect the sound of the guitar. I played the one-offs at the Roundback Roadshow, and they sounded identical to the 08C, which is a stonking great guitar.
Anybody thinking of plunging into the Adamas world should stop thinking. That's less than the price of most used ones, and it comes with lifetime warranty. Get one. Now. |

Edit: now I see that it says -5 in the title of the thread. Maybe that's where I got the idea there was only one color available. |

I used to claim that I was a "wood top" kinda guy. But lately, what I'm mostly playing is the OFC slothead (ding!) and Big Blue (my Adamas I 12 string). I could easily live with just those two guitars...... |

I retired my 1681 from the road about 13 years ago. You guys have seen the road case so it's pretty obvious that she dodged quite a few bullets in her time.
I had a few acoustic venues to play in Texas this past June and decided to take her with me for the first time in ages. I had forgotten her ability to turn the heads of many purist's who think they hate all roundback's. Now she's chewing on my butt to take her out more often...
This A-II series is truly one of the finest all around instruments that ever left the MS. Get 'em while you can. |

I already have all of the 30th Anniversary Ovations I can justify, but these should be on a par with the others, which were excellent. |

The World’s Most Advanced Acoustic Guitar
Representing the ultimate craftsmanship from Ovation’s flagship workshop in New Hartford, Connecticut, the Adamas 1581 features a black carbon-fiber suspended soundboard with Adamas fan bracing and bass-string soundholes, and a classic Deep cutaway composite body. The 5-piece mahogany/maple neck has a resin-impreganted Walnut fretboard, and Original Adamas II Design Maple fret inlays. The Adamas 1581 sports Ovation’s Original Patented pickup and Stereo FET preamp.
The Mid-Depth bowl blends elements of Ovation’s Super-Shallow and Deep Bowl designs. Acoustically, the Mid-Depth bowl delivers impressive projection and rich tone, yet even smaller guitarists find it comfortable to hold and play. It’s no surprise Ovation’s LX, AX, and TX models all feature a Mid-Depth body: Its proprietary Lyrachord construction and roundback design let it outperform typical “box” guitars. For decades, hardworking musicians have relied on Mid-Depth Ovation guitars to cut through the mix, whether played acoustically in a living room or run through a concert hall sound system.
Designed to reduce hum and line noise, the Stereo FET preamp delivers stunning stereo output, and waist-mounted individual volume and tone controls are quick and easy to adjust while performing. A contemporary version of the electronics that launched the Adamas acoustic/electric line in 1979, the Stereo FET preamp is an Ovation classic.

Ovation is making more money, and the New Hartford craftsmen are still employed, making better guitars than ever. Sounds like a winning situation to me. |

Now, having said that, I'm glad I've got 2 2 knobber guitars with the modern electronics in them (OFC slothead and 1537) as I do think they are cool and the electronics in them are really all I need for my limited plugged in playing..... |

I really looked hard at the 1687 RI, but it seemed redundant after I got the OFC. For a guy who actually knows how to play those high notes up the neck like Damon does, the 1581 should be great. I guess I won't feel sorry that Damon won't get to try out my 2010 Collector this weekend.
Can anybody Photoshop a double breasted suit onto one of Al's pictures? Probably not possible. |

I actually really need to do some more experimentation with the settings on the VIP, but who needs to experiment with a single tone knob? Nobody.

Damon is a pro and will make this guitar look fantastic, even though to my eye, its not a real looker. One strange comment I've received on numerous occasions about the 1581 (and 1881 for that matter) and its flat black cross-weave top is "From a distance, I thought your guitar was covered in leather." Another plus . . . it has a glossed neck! |

Oh, and these cost a hell of a lot less !!! |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I don't know, but if I weren't spending all my money on that custom made longneck, I'd buy at least one more - one to keep at the house, one to keep at the shop, and then maybe a spare for my friend Jeff who wants one but can't afford it right now. |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Oh, you were asking how many of my friends HERE have decided to contact Al. Well, Jeff, as I said, is trying to scramble to find the money, and Dan has asked me to talk to his wife about getting him one for Christmas. Terry keeps complaining that I won't sell him one of mine, so he's thinking about it too. |
