I've been babysitting this Deacon for a friend from another forum. He was hoping I'd come up with the $ to buy it, but I decided it was time to send it back.

He asked that I post it here before sending it back, so...

It's in pretty good shape and plays excellent. It does have a problem with the tone pot. Whatever keeps the pot from turning past the stop point is not working, so the tone knob turns freely. I mean, it will go to the low end of the tone, then all of a sudden be to the high end ... Am I making sense here?

I'm sure it could be fixed, but I haven't looked into it. Might be worth a call to the mothership or one of the usual suspects here on the board if you're interested.

It's a beautiful guitar. He's asking $900, but I think he'll consider offers of substance. I do know he has an affinity for Guild electrics, so if'n ya had a cool Guild, let me know and I'll run it past him.

It is so refreshing to see that someone actually cleans their guitar before taking photos!

That would be a good grab for someone, the pot is fixable.

It's a gorgeous guitar and I would have found a way to keep it but...

I found another. Weird too, just right up the street at a pawn shop. It's in perfect condition (and I'm paying for that too.... over time).

There you have it though. Like Woody says, it's fixable. I just didn't attempt it since I found the other one.

And FYI, Jim, the owner of this guitar, has transacted with another member here on a Viper (previously owned by me, then him, now with Iffy, a beauty of a first year burst Viper). He's a stand-up guy and a regular on another guitar forum. Since it's with me I'll ship the guitar out, but I'll refer you the buyer to him for payment arrangements.
