Original Adamas Slothead #41 for sale

Pictures can be found here . It also comes with the original case cover.

Please send offer to playadamas gmail com ... translate the and back to symbols please

If you don't know what this is, you probably will not be interested in purchasing anyway. If you are still interested, please do a search here and you will find plenty of useful information on these guitars.

I have offered this guitar to Tony first, making him the only other person with more than one slothead. You all know what "the other person" is. He has kindly declined, thus opening the possibility of another member holding the honor. You will be eligible to attend the next Slothead owners reunion. I have enjoyed both the guitar and the honor it brings. I will now divert the funds to my kids education.

Offers under $10K will not be considered. I will ship anywhere in the world (international buyer pays shipping), domestic shipping is included. Payment will be made via wire transfer to my US bank account only. Thank you.

Please direct all replies to my e-mail address. I will only reply to serious buyers. A serious buyer is defined as one who is prepared to pay the agreed price given his/her purchase conditions are met. Only e-mail with an actual offer will receive a response. No trades, thank you.

Hopefully the guitar stays here. It will be shipped overseas otherwise.

I showed this to the wife and she said that I should buy it. No questions asked. Something is wrong with this whole scenario...

Sadly I don't have the cash to make a serious offer or there would be a PM in your box! Good luck with the sale, someone is going to be very happy very soon methinks...

There is something about owning sequential serial numbers that's oddly alluring ...

Quote from 2005:

"I am more interesting in talking about the slothead's history, construction and sound. The fact that somebody thinks it's worth 10K or more eludes me."

What changed your mind???

My guess would be 5-6 additional years of the small but growing group of individuals who are starting to realize not only the historical significance of the slotheads but also the incredible sound they produce.

Based on the last 2 going for over $12,000, asking for serious offers to begin at $10,000 is pretty damn generous IMHO.

Probably owning a couple of them. These guitars will do that to you I think. I'm sure that question was posted when playadamas was thinking about acquiring one or two of these ... after all, think about it from the perspective of why it would be worth that much more than an early Adamas I when they seem on the surface to be so similar. Since he's had one, the 10K doesn't elude him anymore. I've played a number of them, including this #41. They are pretty phenomenal instruments. Nothing else like them.

And yes, then there is the rarity factor. But a lot of the ones I know of are in the hands of regular joes, not high-end collectors so I know they get played regularly.

Alas, I'm not in the mix for this one ... I hear a different Siren's song. This is a real nice opportunity for someone here though ... very exclusive club.

Instruments like this do not lend themselves easily to the "worth" discussion.

It's the combination of rarity, historical significance and the fact that it's the best sounding guitar ever to be built by Ovation. To some people that makes it's "worth" almost a meaningless discussion.

I was honored that Michael offered me #50 (-7) and his Martin D12-45 about a year ago in a 1st offering. Not easy, but I had no problem justifying $12,500 for the pre-production slothead. They rarely become available at any price. Even with depressed prices for guitars because of the economy, $12,500 was less than what #50 should have sold for.

This time, I seriously considered #41, after all there are some who only get the -8's (blue) Adamas. If I didn't also have the 47RI and the OFC slotheads, it would have already been sold.

No one can describe the pre-production slotheads to someone who hasn't been able to play them. Even a couple of strums will amaze you. The longer you play, the more amazed you will be. When Michael brought this guitar to Moody's NAMM party a couple of years ago, I checked it out but then walked away. None were available for sale and I didn't want the frustration (kind of like giving a piece of fine chocolate to a child and then taking it away after the child's first bite).

If you can, give him a serious offer before I come to my senses. Now that the offer is public, I don't expect his offer to sell to last long.
