Project 1863

I just want the tuners and case. I don't care about the husk.... although it would make the floor lamp I was contemplating...

I'm not interested, but it's strange that the photos don't show clearly, or descrbe, HOW it's so beaten up.

Might make those who would want to fix it up shy away. In other words, it could be even WORSE than the dire words in the ad.

I already made my first/last bid on it.
Did you know that you can modify the neck and retop it with odd soundholes?

I haven't bid yet; just watching it at this point. I'm missing the tuner buttons and related screws/washers on my project Country Artist and apparently regular Schaller buttons won't fit. New Schallers like that are over $100. And the case looks to be nice. So I'd have to bid stupid money to 'not' get my money's worth.

Sucks that the flat saddle/pu is missing; I need one for the CA. John B has them at the factory for $80 but someone's probably got three of them in their junk drawer.

It should not matter if another board member is bidding on this or not. It's not OFC policy to restrict, or suggest to restrict, anyone bidding on anything. It's not really fair to the seller.
And eventually we'll all end up on the seller side of things someday.

I think you're reading too much into my post. I'm not suggesting anyone 'not' bid on it for my benefit.

Sometimes it not how it's written, but how it's read.
For instance... you might have read my post in a much harsher, corrective tone than it was written. Which is far from my intent.

NO Collusion is allowed on this board it has never been tolerated.

there will be no asking of not bidding or bidding on this board or via the PM system. It is strictly forbidden and against out policy.

Besides, some kid in Outer Slobania is waiting for the last 30 seconds to bid 26,069 rubel byts...

I've come in second place lots of times because we are not the only BFLG O'geeks out there.

From what I can SEE, it doesn't look all that bad, aside from some holes, no bridge, and the need for a new rosette. There seems to be finish missing from the low side of the top, near the upper fretboard though, which could indicate neck removal or damage. The only thing I see unacceptable is that it is a shallow bowl.

It is on my "watch list"... But I am only wishing that I knew how to fix it.

Who knows? There might not be anything really wrong with it.
My Beater 1612 was sold as 'parts'...
I figured if it didn't work I could steal the tuners and have a crappy case.
But I added a bit of Loc-Tite and Woody donated a Saddle and 'Viola!'
I have a really ugly guitar, but it works.

I need to get some proper tools and an ironing-board.

Case is worth about as much as the current bid. I appreciate the clarification on the rule. Once I found out that I had outbid a member and might not have bid had I known he was interested. And I don't really know him. So, point is it's a good rule. Hard line to draw.

I appreciate the clarification also.

I know in the past I have backed away from eBay items when another member has expressed REAL interest and even posted my maximum bid here when I became aware that another member was bidding on the same item.

Won't do either anymore.

Yeah, Business is Business...
If I post a PSA it usually means that I ain't bidding on it but it looks like a good deal.
I would still relent from bidding on something if a friend wanted it more than me.
That's what friends do... You can do whatever you think is right.
If I bid against a friend it would only cause one of us to pay more than usual.
But Yeah, if I was selling I would want as many people fighting over the guitar as possible. :p

I definitely wouldn't post an item to the sale board if I was interested in buying it myself. I only post outside sales if the item is special or unique, and/or I believe someone here might benifit by it.

It makes no sense to post an item that is for sale and then complain about others bidding against you.

That is why we have the no collusion policy.

Ultimately these are only guitars and other objects. they are not people or body parts or anything else. If you lose one good deal another will be there soon to follow.

Al is absolutly right:
Meuti has paid more than €400 more for his FD14 because I was bidding on it, too. I don't knew him as a member here but I also want that guitar.
He has one for a lot of money, I've one, too, for more money and I think we both are friends now. That's life.

When it happens, you just can't take it personally.
The bottom line is that if you didn't get it, you didn't bid enough.

Ahhh, but I do... if I know a fellow member is 'jonesing' for it. Just call me an ol' sentimental 'collusioner'...

Haven't read that anywhere in this thread...

BTW, I'd venture a guess that for most of us, it's not a bu$ine$$.

Brad et al,

Agreed... I'm not promoting collusion. I was just relating my personal prerogative on this side of my keyboard. If my consideration of other OFC members is an issue, too bad for those that don't! I have not nor ever will post a collusionary statement.

I do feel bad for ksdaddy in that his post was 'bout as innocent as any posted here. All of a sudden, poof, 'pile on'.

Go to Scott's SITE and ya'll find a true lover and restorer of stringed instruments; amazing workmanship and talents!

I've been running a Not-for-Profit myself.
In Ebay there is only first place, everything else is just background noise.
