I am relisting this because the original posting is confusing (It was a limited listing because of winter weather). Now that Spring has sprung I am willing to ship again.
This Legend 1756 12 was lovingly rebuilt by Mother a couple years ago. It was originally a 1989. What remains from the original guitar are the neck and tuners. Frets were re-leveled and polished and the electronics were refurbished, so it has an OP-24 preamp and piezo under saddle pickup. It has a new deep bowl. Unlike the original, it has a thinner, more resonant top, new style scalloped bracing, and thinner finish.
Why I'm selling this is a long story, but I would really like to see it go to an OFC'er who would really appreciate it.

$700 + shipping to Con US (I'll eat PayPal fees)

Photos both before and after the rebuild are HERE

It amazes me that this guitar has not found a home yet. It's beautiful and, for that price, should be an easy sale. Good luck.

Thanks for the support. I guess most people are set with 12'ers, because it has been very quiet. Funny how over the Winter, when I refused to ship it, I had lots of interest.

Just wait a short while for the economy to get a bit better and for people to start getting their tax refund checks. The past few months have been a low point for used guitar values.

I know that I have refused some lowball offers, some vastly worse than insulting. Trades seem to be getting more popular and interesting.

I hate those lowball offer people....trying to sell my house...marked her down to 185000.00 ( four years ago, I could've sold it for around $250.00)...I get a call from a guy who never even looks at it and says..."185 seems awfully high in this market...I would guess your house is worth around 150"). This from a guy who never even seen the place...everybody wants something for nothing, and I am sick of it!

That's a tremendous guitar and a lowball price. Wish I was in the market for a 12 (hard to be when you've got an Adamas I 12). Somebody here needs to pick it up....

I've got my 6778LX offered locally as well as on a couple of guitar forums. Advertised cash-and-carry price of $599, though some negotiating is reasonably expected. One guy sends me an email offer of $250 bucks. Now that is just insulting.

As to the subject of this thread, that's a beautiful guitar and a very fair price. If I were in the market for a 12 it would be a serious temptation.

That's what I thought, too.
Most OFC'ers understand just how nice guitars rebuilt by the Mothership really are.

Beautiful, it looks brand new. I'd snag it up if I was in the market for one.

It's a beautiful guitar for sure, and like others if I was in the market for one I would grab it. I hope it sells for you soon.

afortune, this is just a curiosity question, not a criticism by any means... if you recently had this rebuilt from the neck up, why not opt for a newer preamp like the Optima or OP-Pro? Was it the cost or the desire to keep it as original as possible?

Good question, but no good answer. I always liked the OP-24 preamp and the cost of refurbishing the electronics was covered under the warranty. I didn't think about the possibility of upgrading the electronics until everything was underway. It would have been worth it to go to a newer pre-amp, but I would also be asking for more now if I had. The good thing is it is not too difficult to cut the bowl for the newer preamps if anybody wants to upgrade it themselves or, for that matter, have Ovation do it for them.

OK. Here's the last, lowest deal on this already underpriced guitar for OFC members only. $700 gets this shipped to you in the ConUS including PayPal fees. I have this listed on AGF and TGP, but they will not get this deal, which basically amounts to free shipping (and I pack well--ask AJ).
Thanks!

Thanks for the endorsement AJ, but everyone else should note I can't guarantee against that kind of damage... ;)
This is a freakin' bargain, though...that I can guarantee. :D

I would prefer to sell this, but since that isn't happening so far, I would consider a trade for either a resonator or a fat body archtop/jazzbox type.

Really, though, this is a good deal.

Since I have been asked privately why I would even want to sell this beautiful guitar, here is the back story (Warning: sad GAS-related lost vintage gear content)
Back in 1990, I traded a 1967 Gibson ES-335 12 string AND a 1972 Fender Precision fretless bass for this guitar...and I got excellent trade-in value at the time. Today, those two guitars together would be worth around $5K. After investing in making this guitar like new again, and being lucky enough to acquire quite a lot of really nice guitars and amps in the last couple of years, I decided I would sell this guitar and invest it in my son's (3yrs old) college fund so I could feel like it could grow as an investment.
If I trade it, I will be selling something else of equal value for the same purpose.
Misguided? Probably. Everybody has "the one(s) they should have kept" but that's what makes for good stories, right? ;)

Yup. That's always true.
Plus it seems like it's normal for people to have multiple 6ers but having multiple 12ers is more unusual, unless your MusicMischka, of course.

In the spirit of supporting this forum and inspired by MWoody...if someone from OFC buys this, I will donate $50 back to the site. If you feel secure enough to use the PayPal gift option (that's a personal choice, for sure) I will donate the extra 3% I would have paid in PayPal fees as well. So for your $700, you could have this shipped to your door and OFC gets 10% of that if you use the gift option.

:D That's funny.
It was difficult to hand it over, but it was nice to see the buyer fall in love with it. Who knows? Maybe he'll end up on here. Plus, I think we may end up doing some playing together, so I'll get to visit. ;) Anyway, the money goes in my son's college fund tomorrow
