Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | I wanted to keep this one. I really, REALLY did! But my collection has reached an impasse and something needs to give. So here it is. The guitar is absolutely stunning in both looks and sound. My favorite feature is the heavily grained rosewood fretboard. It looks a little different every time I open its case. The sound is everything you would expect. When it first came, I had planned on moving it right back out, but it was just so, SO, nice! So I decided to keep it. Then I found an Ovation even more rare that I just couldn't pass up. (Here's the original thread.
The guitar has only minor cosmetic issues including a ding in the lower bout that appears to have been sealed but not leveled. A ding near the g-pin on the headstock and those little cracks in the neck binding that are so common. Also, the case does not close right. It can still seal with three of the four latches, and the hinges are fine. The oustside is in pretty good shape with no cracks. Pics of all these issues are below, but none of these effect the structure or sound in any way. I had planned on sending it to the factory for a spa treatment, can you imagine how it would look when they were done?
These are very rare, and I'm asking what it's worth. I know about the economy, but the worst that will happen is I get "stuck" with it, and I've been stuck in FAR worse situations, that's for sure. Patch's layaway is available. Shipping is included in the continental US. I'll ship overseas, but it is SERIOUSLY costly anymore so be prepared for a humbling shipping quote.
There are more pics on my ning site as well at this link... 1768 Craftsman Nakao
$1350 OBO. (No low balls please, this is too nice an instrument.)
Thanks for looking folks. this is a GREAT guitar...one of New Hartford's best. The owner will definitely be pleased.

Location: Tennessee | Beautiful guitar. Wish I was in the market right now. I have an O with a highly grained rosewood fretboard and can attest to how stunning they are. Good luck with the sale. Someone is going to score a good one. |

I put a set of Al's rosewood tuner buttons on this one, and they look GREAT! I'll be happy to put the original gold ones back on if the buyer prefers them.

The Nakao Craftsman Elites were built for the Japanese Market, but according to several well-informed opinions, a small number managed to stay stateside. They are more-or-less identical in build to the 87C and the Book Elite (with the exception of trim and the rosewood fretboard), but in the US and Europe are even more rare. It is also possible that this guitar was made for some store in CA to celebrate some anniversary, but I have been unable to verify that.
Whichever is the case, it is, IMO, one of the best wood-tops Ovation has EVER made. |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Since someone asked, here are pictures of the case that is now available with this guitar. (Yes I lifted them from the web. I forgot to bring the case to my office today for pictures.) It is brand new and looks exactly like the photos. Of course, if you prefer the brown one, that's fine too.
A friendly reminder....Layaway is available.
