Location: Texas | The Artist is a steel string guitar and the Country Artist is a nylon string guitar.
They both have the Artist bowl or "shallow" bowl.
It is a very comfortable guitar.
Here is the description from the 70s Ovation Catalog "The Guitars of the Stars":
Artist 1121/1621
Plenty of "cut" makes the Artist the complete lead guitar.
"In our shallow-bowl guitar, you get lots of midrange "cut" to overcome the presence of other instruments and project the guitar's sound. The V-bracing combines with the round back shape to really bring the sound to life. The Artist produces remarkable midrange and treble projection. And there's enough bass to produce a complete lead guitar sound." |

| I have one of these. They have a nice sound and good mid range as noted above. When I bought the guitar back in 75 I was mainly playing electric lead and the Ovation neck worked well for my playing style. The artist depth bowl is quite comfortable and not difficult to hang onto like some of the others supposedly are. I wouldn't part with this guitar because it has a distinctive voice that I haven't really noticed in other variations of the balladeer and for that reason I use this one quite a bit - seems voiced well for vocal and that alone makes it a keeper.
Even if you have a few Ovation guitars this one is a worthy addition. |
