I am considering a Legend 1769 Al Dimeola model. I currently have an Adamas 1597 and a Balladeer 1861 LX. Has anyone played the 1769? Interested in how it would compare to my other 2.

Thanks in advance for your input

Much better sound than your supershallow bowl. Warmer sound than the 1597. Can't say better as it would be a personal opinion.

Ton more bling than either guitar......

1769-ADII had changes from the previous AD5.

I have had the 1769-ADII and two SMT 1597's. Can't really compare a cutaway woodtop centerhole with a cutaway graphite multi-hole. Both are excellent. Like the sound, then either wood or graphite.

Personally, I like the Custom Legend centerhole (DiMeola is a Custom Legend). I did a review (archive) of the ADII and the 30th Anniv CL - liking the non-cutaway CL better as an acoustic. Very similar when plugged in. However, some prefer a cutaway.

Personally, I would buy Dave's CL...probably more changes (to include the bowl) than the ADII. Sure, ADII has the lead boost...but, other than DiMeola, who cares? Seemed awkward - ? move the left hand off of the fretboard ?

Again, best deal out there is Dave's CL for a wood top, Al's offering for the SMT. Or, get both.

Thanks for the input. Tony, I actually got the 1597 from you, so that one is in the house already. Now the dilemma, Dave's CL is nice, and we now have a Custom Elite on the board. And, there is a FRG Al available at Roceteria for $1,229. So many guitars, so little time!!! Might have to sell my Gibson Class 5 Custom shop and get them all.

Oops, busy Monday...

Then, easy decision...keep the SMT and get Dave's "custom" CL or one of the 30 CL Anniv's
:p :D :p

Tony, there's nothing "custom" about my CL. It's a stock LX contour bowl C2079-5. Of course if I was keeping it, I would have gutted the electronics and slapped on a GC TRC. The replacement would be closer to what you might call "custom". ;)

Small correction it's a "Custom Legend LX Contour Bowl". Better off just calling it a C2079LX-5.
