If he really was mad at her, he'd have at least included her phone number.

Pardon my skepticism, but somehow this auction "doesn't pass the 'sniff test'". Something about "buying a pig-in-a-poke"(?!)

Yeah, what's inside it "worth $600" is a very valuable lesson on how now to get ripped off on eBay and never to buy anything without seeing what the hell it is first. And the reason it's worth $600 is because the seller hopes it will go that high to "prove" its worth.

SCAM.

I would hardly think it is a scam with almost 300 feedback and a 98% satisfaction rating.

Some people do crazy things when they get pissed and feel betrayed. This might be a hell of a deal for someone.

This is a very interesting auction item. I can understand his scorn and I understand why he put the item up for bid but is it possible that legalities of the situation make this illegal because the jewelry box and it's content belong to the wife? Just a point to consider. It wouldn't be cool if he had to compensate her for the loss if she decides to make an issue out of it! Also, I wouldn't bid on a "mystery box" anyway but there sure are a few that are willing to have a go at it.

At least he's a gentleman about it. I had a nice bonfire in my backyard when I found out mine had an affair. I am a survivor. A man who got the house....the investments and the guitars!!!!!! God Bless Pre-nups with an infidelity clause.

Strum on.

i think i'll agree with jumper on this one. i too am a survivor, but at least in my case, it was halted before reaching the altar! :p

many years ago, i was one engaged to to someone i thought was very special. after the break-up, i took everything that she had given me, packed them in boxes, and mailed them back to her. as for the engagement ring and other jewelry, however, i took it to the local pawnshop for a quick buck, and partied with the guys for an entire weekend. the money also helped pay my rent for two months. the internet was in diapers back then and limited to college e-mails, gopher, ftp, and multi-user dungeons via telnet. if ebay was around then, i probably might end up doing the same with it.

as for her ... well, i simply walked away and never looked back. although it would take me another three years to get over her, i'm very glad that i moved on! :) in the here and now, while far from perfect, not only do i find myself living a good life, i have my wife who supports me wholeheartedly -- including my bad habits with guitars! :D

I hear ya ignimbyte!

I now have this huge house on a lake with a speed boat and all the toys. I live like a king. She lives in a matchbox sized hole paying his debt caused by the child support and alimony he now has to pay his ex for being a spineless little cheater.

The best thing is.....chicks love financialy secure, middle aged men with no beer gut, all their hair who live on a lake, play guitar and have the odd party where skinny dipping is not only allowed, but encouraged. The first 10% of my earnings goes towards women, the next 10% goes towards guitars!!!!!! I would switch the order, but then I would have to change one of the percentage amounts.......

Strum on,

Al

Ole Lemon Jefferson.....you're on. Next lake party is May 24 weekend. Just found out I might be moving back out that way next summer and hope to buy another place on water. No, I digress, I will buy another place on water. There will be plenty of lake parties there as well....Maybe I will have an Adamas by then.......

Skinny dipping in a lake in Canada on May 24? Is the ice gone by then? I'll just jump in the hot tub with my wife, thanks. We don't even open the pool by then.

Mark, it's what being Canadian is all about. Hell, where I come from, we cut a hole in the ice and swim on 1 January. Polar Bear swim. It's all good brother.
