Hi Folks. I have been using ovation a long time now and am considering selling a couple of my babies. One is a cream viper electric with case. Both the guitar and the case are in 7-8/10 condition. Very playable. But the one Im having trouble with pricing is an early 70's Eclipes. Round '71 or '71 this is a jazz style electric hollow body with f-holes made of the classis ovation acoustic shell. Was told by ovation there were only 100 ever made. Ive had it a very long time. How does one value such an instrument? Can anyone help me?

Welcome to the Club, Davey!

Don't know about the Eclipse, but how much are you asking for the Viper? And do you have pictures?

Welcome Davey!

I would guess that the Eclipse is painted in the "polane" splatter paint that it resembles the surface of the bowls vs. being made of "Lyrachord". I believe the "Lyrachord" came out at a later date.

Price and pictures of either would be lovely!

Eclipse is made of wood and is painted with black bowl paint. It wa sthe economy model of the oast few years if Storm production. I think most if not all of them were longnecks. They show up occasionally on ebay in the $300. range. Dave

I sold my Eclipse a couple of weeks ago for $300. It was fit with non-original pickups, but included the originals. The body was in very good condition.

I'm sure there were many more than 100 produced.

Cheers,

Mark

Welcome Davey,

I bought mine 350$ one year ago on Ebay.
This one was in mint and unplayed condition.
I traded it against a 1776 Patriot 6 month ago.
