Location: Boise, Idaho | Buy one and compare it to my 1713 or a 1763. It would be interesting to hear the difference between the mid and deep bowls. Only other difference I noticed was pearloid tuners and the pre-amp. Couldn't tell if it still has the 5 piece neck. |

Location: SoCal | It's got the 5 piece neck. It's also got the LX bracing and the lighter bowl. Be real interesting to try it next to an older classical deep bowl.
What appeals to me is the Country Artist (now just te "Artist") width nut and the 12 frets to the body. Should play very similar to my old CA but have a better unplugged tone. |

i think ovation is using pro arte strings on the classicals now... |

- but I'd have t'agree with Witko that a ContourBowl on this'd really be cool
(especially for playing in the traditional "Classical" sitting style) . . . |

I know the Nylon and Steel string may have differing neck widths.
My guess is that the cut and form of the U186T slothead is the pattern (and angle) of the near future.
What I'm really thinking is that now that the image is programmed into the CNC and there is a stock on the shelves it could be adapted to MANY models.
Next would be the 12th fret folklore LX.
And...
... Would the neck design work for the 12 string, 12th fret...
Ok, I am thinking too many things at once. Really cool and exciting thing to do Big-O!!! |

I also hate to ask, does anyone know the going price for one of these babies? I'm thinking that my Alpo budget I'm on will preclude me from ownership. Perhaps Ovation can start their production with a nice run of FRG's. You know, something to get them through the learning curve.

As I learn more about guitars from this forum, I'm beginning to think ALL acoustic guitars should be 12 fret slotheads. But then I don't go up the neck that much, (like some of the good players do). |

OK...now I think I'm confusing myself. Does Ovation make both a Classical and a Country Artist? |

Location: SoCal | Now, yup. The Classic LX as opposed to the Artist (formerly known as the Country Artist), has the same nut width, but is 12 frets to the body. Fewer usable frets, but it moves the bridge back in the body for a better acoustic sound. Few other differences.
Ovation nylons have never been a guitar that appeals to the classical "purists". But this guitar should have a better unplugged sound than the Country Artist.
For those of us who play nylon string, but play unplugged as often as plugged in, it's a great compromise. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | So Moody, let me get this straight. Ovation now makes an Artist and a Classic LX. They no longer make the Classical or Country Artist.
Did I get that right? Should I be riding to school on the long bus or the short bus? |

Check out the Ovation webpage, under the news section. You'll see both guitars. |

OK, here's the solution.

Location: SoCal | Fred, I was on vacation (one of my few and way to short vacations) when it was first posted. And Ovation is not great up sending out their newsletter.
I'm going to take a look at the update webpage you linked to.
And next year, I'm going to sell my Country Artist and possibly my Deluxe Balladeer and get one of the Classic LX's. Should suit my needs better than my CA.
Only thing is, I want to make certain that it has the XLR jack. |
