Location: Norman, OK | I was curious if anyone can shed some light on this guitar currently listed (I think it's the second time) on E-bay.

I can't find any reference to the manufacture of a cedar topped elite. Does anyone out there have one? Does it sound comparable to a regular elite of the same vintage? Were there limited runs of elites with different wood tops?
Also curious as to what the pervailing thought is on the price, seems a bit pricey (over $700), but it is a good looking guitar, (more like a North Chilean Guanaco as opposed to a standard Llama). Also curious if anyone in the OFC has had any dealings with this seller. Any input would be most welcome.

Location: Boise, Idaho | I saw that and never heard of a cedar Elite either. Check the Ovation website and run through the discontinued and collector's edition and see if you find one. I thought the price was too high anyway. |

Location: Norman, OK | Thanks Mark, I checked the Ovation sites you suggested and the manufacturer price list as well and still can't find anything about it. Do you think it's a "custom made" rather than a special run? I guess it's moot at the price. Still curious if anyone's ever seen or played one though.

Location: Studio City, California, USA | Oh yeah, i can tell you they are as good as the adamas but with that wood sound. I had one that was stolen in 1995. I have been trying to figure out what Ovation it was for all those years so i can buy one back, and just found this forum.

They are listed in a German catalog (page #28)
Don't know much more about these models!!

Location: Cicero, NY | I'm a huge fan of the cedar Elite too, Ced. Good luck in landing one. I've been in the market one or two different times and the moons have never aligned for me (I look for one and can't find one, then after I end up buying something, one comes up- aarrggghh!).

I found one but it's way out of the country, so forget about that, cause the owner wants all of my right hand's fingers for it.
I fell you on this one. I can't get over the fact that i've missed the one ebay about what 2 weeks ago. Man, i miss that cedar tone, and that cedar smell. It's like nothing else.

Location: Studio City, California, USA | Who is Jerome? This name sounds french. I am french myself, only from New Caledonie, a little island in the south pacific ocean . I'd be happy to speak French with an ovation fan.
As for this guitar. Well, i'm sure it is a very nice sounding guitar and it looks super good. I would have baught it in a heart beat if there wasn't that clear coat finish on it.
The I had was a "natural" (I don't know the real term) wood type. You know kind a like raw wood. I think that makes a difference and I think that's why that particular Elite I had sounded so good. I have to find the exact same one.

Location: Tennessee | How about this one, boys? Jerome found it! A mistake in the listing ... the 1537 has a spruce top ... no cedars ever to my knowledge. The 1537 get a very nice honey tone to them, so the seller was probably fooled by the color. |
