Hi anyone who is selling an Ovation Ultra GP1S and wants to give it to a good home please email me at benembery@hotmail.com. I have been looking worldwide for one of these guitars.
They are a true work of art and I am willing to pay large amounts for one.

Yeah, check out the UKII. Super cool guitar. Sounds awesome, plays awesome, and no one says "Hey, that guy thinks he's Josh" if you play one. Plus it's hard to find GP's, but it's even harder to get guys like me to give up the ones they have. I mean my car got stolen 3 weeks ago and I need a $45,000 back operation, but I'm still not selling my precious GP’s. Well, not yet anyway...

In fact I'm always looking for another one. And to think I actually sold 2 of them, I could have 5! Yes, I am a greedy prick.

Oh, I'm pretty sure GP1-S is the code for a sunburst GP. My advice - don't get your heart set on a certain color. Just be happy if you find one. Good luck. Having money to spend is definitely part of the equation - patience is the other.

I'm not even gonna bid for it? With that price already I definitely won't be able to afforded it.

For that kind of money you should really consider a new Hamer. Last weekend I checked out a few and although they aren't "me," if they were I'd buy'em in a heartbeat. Unlike a lot of the early Ovation solid bodies (and others), where you had to know that the pickups were wound hot, the body was aluminum, it had a preap, etc.. to appreciate it.... The Hamer, as soon as you pick it up, you start to notice the fit and finish. As example, looking from the side there is a virtual line from the bottom of the binding, across the top of the two pickup covers to the bottom of the bridge, and the strings are parallel with that line and the pickups also parallel. The pickups and bridge may not end up that way after personal adjustments, but it sure is nice to take a guitar out of the case that looks like that, and it IS SETUP for smooth low and smooth action already. Every Hamer I have looked at (Al is always trying to get me to buy one), I have never picked up one that wasn't ready to rock, right from the factory.

I've got to say, that any thing over $1400 is pretty much insanity for that guitar in that condition. Remember the sunburst that Mr. Ovation sold was in prisine condition?? Are the sunburst models worth less some how?

I agree with Mr. Ovation on the Hamer tip too. I played a few last weekend and was very impressed. The Monaco Elite was my favorite....but quite expensive.

I'm thinking with all the hype over the GP it may be time for a re-issue?

It's all in the timing, and it's too late already.
By the time they would be able to "gear up" for a re-issue, QOTSA will have gone the way of Hootie & the Blowfish and the market value of these guitars will have gone the way of the Beanie Baby.

Being the former owner of the very GP you speak of tommcatt, it was not in 'pristine' condition. It was in very good condition, but mint with no marks it was not. Also Miles admits he might have undersold it, but $1400 is a good price these days. Some would say a bargin. The transparent colors (bursts and wine) aren't true flame tops. It's a veneer.

A black GP will always bring more money 'cause a) they are the rarest of the rare and b) you've got QOTSA / Kyuss fans who wanna black one 'cause that's what we've seen Josh play. Plus black is really cool.

Guitarded, chances are I won't bid again, so best’o’luck. And I have a wine GP now. Of course I've sold since my two honeybursts so my goal of having one in every color still remains a silly obsession. Wait, why did I sell those GP’s? Man, I’m stupid…

I will own them all!!!!!

Yeah I thought that was you Ickygoo, just couldn't quite remember....Pristine may have been an over-statement as I only saw one pic. I think the black ones are the baddest of all as well. Something about the yellow binding on the sunburst model I didn't like a whole lot....and yeah I was a big Kyuss fan years ago before I had any clue what kind of guitar Josh played.

cliff,

I told you no talking smack about the Queens.

And QOTSA aren't going away. They've been doing nothing but gaining fans since they started in 1997-8. Clearly you know nothing of the awesomeness that makes up the band or their side projects. To mention them in a sentence with Hootie is a poor reflection on you.

Now go listen to the Dessert Sessions, or check out the new U.N.K.L.E, or any of Mark Lanegan's solo albums (can’t wait for that new one), Mondo Generator, earthlings?, Wellwater Conspiracy. I could go on, but you see my point. Listen to any of that and see if you can find the courage to say Hootie again.

School’s out. You just got learned.

the reason I keep trying to get you interested in Hamer is because I don't only sell them and love them but use them myself. You have seen me perform and record with a couple of Hamers.
I don't want to come off like a Kaman employee here or spokesperson but I really do believe that Hamers have it all over most of the current production guitars out there and that includes prs, heritage, gibson etc

Sorry you got burned on the deal but it looked strange from the beginning. Never sold anything before, almost all of the purchases below $5, and he only accepted money orders on a rare big ticket item.

All the signs were there.....and then buying from overseas to boot.

Contact your local government and the US government. This might consititute mail fraud which is a federal offense.

Good luck.
