I just bought this Black 07 Legend 12ST on Ebay here in Oz, actually om behalf of another member.

Well packed, strings loosened as requested.
Looked in very good condition only thing I spotted straight away was the binding coming away slightly on the curved end of the neck, no biggie.
Other than a little bit of pick swirl looked very good.

It went downhill from there.

1. Someone has replaced the nut and cut it way too deep, buzzes out badly on the treble E open and slightly on some others.
That in itself not a big deal really.

2. Then I noticed a "dip" in the top on the bass side of the soundhole, enough to distort the rosette. There are no obvious cracks in the top.
I put a straight edge from the bridge and the edge of the rosette is at least 3/16" down.
Treble side seems fine.

It came with a humidifier but interestingly enough it came from Darwin which is a very humid place

The action is high but the saddle is as low as you could get it.
Probably associated with the warp in the top.

I'm looking for ideas as to what the problem may be.

I will obviously contact the seller but I wanted your thoughts.

TIA

AJ

Bugger, bugger, bugger! I'm guessing a brace is broken or has come loose. Your CL I'm minding has a similar problem on the treble side and there is a piece of metal on the back of one of the braces which appears to be part of the repair to stabilise the problem.

This guitar was advertised as minty condition wasn't it?

James, I sold couple of months ago my 1777LX. It did not show any dips in the top but it was belly at a point I was forced to move the saddle as low as could get it and accomodate the action. As Takfar suggested maybe it's a loose brace and you can relieve the dip, but in my case it wasn't. Chris (a member from Turkey) has a similar problem in a brand new guitar. Maybe is something related to the construction itself of the LX line .....

Looks exactly like my '05 did before I sent it back to the MS. One of the braces has popped off.
