Very nice. I don't remember having heard that before. And yes, Harry had a good sense of humor.

Gee, does that mean that if I had a bass and a lead player and a cello player and some drums that I'd sound o.k., too?? ;)
I'd never heard that one before--thanks for posting it. Really liked it.

It actually has been posted here a few months ago. I love it from that day on. It's a great video.

Seen him do it live. I feel bad for anyone who never got to see Harry before he died. He put on the very best show. He made you feel like he was sitting in your living room, playing just for you. Ah, Harry, I'll always miss you...

That's pretty darn cool. I sang backup for him all the time in my car about that same timeframe. Harry didn't care for my singing, but he was too kind to complain. ;)

He never had to, the 8-track would eat the tape and I'd know it was time to shut up.

I sure miss those days and I miss the song writing styles of Chapin and Croce.

sigh

I loved listening to him back in the 70s, but recently realized I no longer had any of his albums, so I got several for Father's day. This song came on the cd as I pulled up in Arches National Park. Gorgeous scenery, but I stayed in the car until this song was over. He did some great stuff.

It's not Chapin with an Ovation, but it's close.

Nicest "Taxi" cover I've heard... especially without a female vocalist!

My friend (and former fellow inspector) used todo a nice version of Taxi. And *I* used to do Big John's part! The amazing thing is that even with my lousy voice, everyone said it sounded good!

I think my favorite cover of a Harry Chapin song was in the PBS tribute concert from years ago. Pat Benetar did "Shooting Star" with so much feeling it still gives me chills when I hear it. It is on youtube, but rather than tearing my hair out trying to post a link, I'll let you all wander over there and hear it for yourselves, if you're so inclined.

First DVD.
You guys did alright, considering the rain. And the dark. And the ink smearing on your lead sheets. And the wind blowing your lead sheets all over.
Not bad at all.
