Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Too bad Pete's jacket was hung up on his guitar strap as it seemed to really interfere with his playing. I'm guessing Roger won't be talking for the next week or more. He really put everything into it to hit the notes, and he did hit them. I imagine the show in person was probably a LOT better than when we heard on TV. Lets face it, they're essentially a 3-piece band, and it just looses a lot in translation when you can't "feel" the music as much as hear it. I don't envy the guys that have to mix a show where the audience hears the music delayed 300ms or maybe even more after it's played. At least in a typical show, the stage volume makes up at least some of the sound.
It was good to see them crank'n em out, for nostalgia sake, but I wasn't really blown away like I half expected to be. |

Pete's singin on the other hand was really lacking. |

I thought I saw a lip-sync. After that I watched real close and saw more evidence against it.
Pete & Rog where good enough.
Zak was fine.
Pino needs to turn up his bass.
The light show was awesome. |

Best thing that could have happend for the New Who.
You think Daltry's voice is compromised, imagine a 64 year old Moon trying to keep up. |

Zak was definitely playing the drums live during the show. The show appeared to be 100% live, and very very tightly rehearsed and performed ... but perhaps with a hard drive behind Daltry in case he needed the help. They may have dialed that up once or twice, definitely during the "Fooled" scream. What is certain is that they weren't using autotune. |

Location: Miami | The Who, given the way they've sounded the last decade or so, were pretty impressive to me. I think they totally pulled it off.
I was VERY concerned about Daltry's voice. I don't think there was ANY lipsyncing going on. The vocals weren't good enough to be lipsynced!
As for Pete's jacket, don't you see that it's part of the look? Even having to push it out of the way while playing. He knows it will do that. But it looks cool to see him push it out of the way between strums.
My only minor complaint was Pete choosing to do a little fast riff in place of the more memorable recorded one in Baba O' Riley (the one leading into the line "teenage wasteland, oh yeah").
Zak? I thought he was nothing short of phenomenal! I can't believe some didn't think so. Hmm. Oh, well. I miss Keith, but Zak did justice.
Mr. O, I agree on not envying the sound engineers, but my God, did they get a nice mix from the TV I heard it from. That snare was crackin', Daltry and Townsend sounded great, and overall I was not disappointed. |

I hate the double standard of
"you can't rock at 65" but it is ok to play jazz or blues. screw that. the band was valid to their audience when they were 20 and valid now at 65
If I make it to 65 I will be making my guitar feedback. |

Roger is 65!
As to the lip sync... I'll will agree with the statements about sound system delay.
(and maybe a little assistance on the Scream)
"I was VERY concerned about Daltry's voice. I don't think there was ANY lipsyncing going on. The vocals weren't good enough to be lipsynced!" Agreed! :D |

| That was really something. Just saw a clip, was out of town for the game. I am happy to see these guy's still at it. It gives me hope that I might still have at least some time to continue to play some music. I am not sure but those guy's have got to be pushing the 70 mark by now.
Amazing how well a life of Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll seemed to work for some people. Great legacy. Very Cool to see. |

Ask and you will receive:
Torino Red, Shoreline Gold and Olympic White Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocasters, modified with the Fishman VMV Powerbridge piezo transducer saddle-pickup system (controlled by knob located just above cord jack on guitar body) for mock acoustic sound. Stereo output, with piezo to onboard EMG buffer preamp (residing behind second rear body cavity, with tone controls); stereo signal sent to splitter box; with magnetic pickup signal to amp, piezo signal to direct box to board. Fishman Power Bridge Tremolo set for floating vibrato. Sperzel locking tuners. |

They sure aren't like they used to be, but who is?
Recent major local music events have been... Kenny Chesney, Lady Ga Ga, and some rap guy. Even if they are a shadow of what they were, I'd rather get a glimpse some glory days with The Who. |

can't they find someone not collecting social security? No. They can't.
I'm sure "they" did the research. If there was a band that from the last 25 years that had better world-wide pull, "they" would use them.
The past 25 years have not created more proven or successful band. And I'm afraid the next 25 years won't either.
I can see it now... the year is 2025. James Cameron makes computer avatars of all the classic rock bands and makes a 4D super concert film. It out grosses his Avatar and wins an Oscar. |
