Location: Boise, Idaho | I've been reading alot about Haiti lately and noticed that James Taylor is doing a benefit concert. By the time I saw the ad, he sold out the first show, added a second and sold it out. I'm not a big JT fan, but would have gone if it was within a reasonable distance.
There are quite a few other benefit concerts being held. Since I acquired a personal interest in Haiti last week, I'd encourage everyone to attend one of your preference.
JT is touring with Carole King. She lived in Idaho for years, but there are no concerts scheduled here. Maybe I'll see if I can change that.
If anyone knows of any Haiti benefit concerts in the Northwest, let me know. If it's rap, though, I'll just donate some more cash and skip the concert. |

| If anyone is interested, a local radio station here is simulcasting JT's concert. You might be able to hear it here also: http://www.wamc.org. The station is also taking donations.
I just googled "Haiti Benefit Concerts" and come up with a ton of sites.

Sounds like those of us who won't be close to a concert should have plenty of opportunities to watch or listen. I'm sure they'll have ways to donate during the concerts or buy CDs. I hope it's not all download stuff, since I still don't know how to do that. |

I just heard a report that there's almost too much money coming at once, and that Haiti is going to need nearly as much help a year from now when people have moved on to other things and other catastrophies. Some charities are under no obligation to use the donations for any specific event (ie: Haiti). My wife and I are donating in stages over the next several months to an orphanage that has been operating there for many years, but has been inundated with new children and others as a result of the quake. |

There's a ton of scams like this out there. I admire the people that just silently donate and don't feel compelled to be attention whores about it. |

Just donate to your favorite charity and don't expect to get anything in return for it.
Personally I like The Salvation Army .
There's a personal attachment I have for them and NOT the Am Red Cross. |

Poor dogs can't even speak for themselves (except to other dogs, of course) and they rely on us to provide for their health and well being. Second biggest benefitiary of my kindness is Cancer. I'll die of cancer, just don't know which one yet but I've got some hunches. I divide it between Am Cancer Society, LAF and Sloan Kettering. |
