I think he does a pretty good imitation of Neil Young. Enjoy!

Never cared much for Neil Young's voice myself.

Willa I've never cared for Neil's voice either, but I think Jimmy sounded better than Neil.

Location: Ireland | I am a big fan of Neil Young - best live performance I have ever experienced - but his voice is an acquired taste for sure. It takes time.... But his guitar playing is unique and skillful, his music and lyrics really intellegent. One strike against him though is I don’t think he ever played an Ovation? :) Think he has always been a Martin man.
Trying to trace a 'live at the BBC' concert that he did in the 70s just before 'Harvest' was released - anyone know of where to get it?
Neil Young is kind of like a first listening to Joni Mitchell - she takes some getting used to as well, but once you have endured the first few high pitched listens, some great music to be appreciated. |

Location: Right now? | Patsy, funny, I saw Neil Young about seven years ago, along with the Pretenders who opened. I hated it, lol. I went to see the Pretenders. I think they WERE the "Pretenders", because they were AWFUL. I was very disappointed 'cause I was always a big fan. BTW, I agree with what you wrote about Neil, but I just never could warm up to his screech.
Jimmy Fallon is great.

You can use a programme to lift the audio out of youtube and onto and mp3 which you can put on a cd or whatever. |

What kind of guitar is Fallon playing? It looks sort of like a round-shoulder Gibson, but there's not enough light to tell. |

Location: Ireland | Thanks Joe - going to try a get a DVD copy. Great concert as some of the songs he performs are different from their final version on harvest and he even hums through certain parts of sings that aren't finished at that stage.
Neil Young I think its proven here - either like him or hate him - with his voice, there is rarely middle ground. He certainly wouldn't make it past the first round of 'Pop Idol' as he's not a 'good' singer - but I think its about the feel of his tunes and the mood that they create on his completed albums that I like. Keep on rockin' Neil! |

I personally love his singing but can totally understand that it would "irritate the shit" out of some people.
He hasn't got a 'good' voice and not real crash-hot on the harmonica either, but the total package is top shelf. |
