Location: Texas | Been lurking for a couple of months. I've been an Ovation fan for a few years, but don't know much about model names and history and such..only what I've learned while shopping for the one I have, and what I've learned here. Man, there is a wealth of information here! I'm looking at a guitar on Ebay, but something doesn't look right, or maybe I'm just not in posession of enough information. It says it's a pacemaker but it looks like a balladeer (?). Anyway, here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/OVATION-1615-4-PACEMAKER-6-STRING-ACOUSTIC-1976...
I appreciate the help!

Well a model 1615 is certainly a Pacemaker and 4 is natural colour.
However a Pacemaker is a 12 string with slotted headstock
That guitar is not a Pacemaker.
I think the label is from another guitar.
Does look pretty nice though.

Model List Here
Nothing about the label matches the guitar.

Location: Tennessee | I'm gonna guess that guitar is a 1612-2. Nice one though, and looks to be in good shape. |

Location: Jet City | I'll venture to say it's a 1112 even. In other words, it's an acoustic only Deluxe Balladeer |

The only thing in the photos that appears to be from a 1115 is the label. |

It would be interesting to know what the serial number was.....

Location: Brisbane Australia | I contacted the seller out of interest.
He seems genuine
.
The serial no is 062xxx so it's a late 75 build.
Said a friend bought it new in 76 which makes sense.
I think it was mislabelled at the factory.
I'm sure its a 1112 Custom Balladeer as Damon said.
Identical to the one pictured in the archived models, other than the colour.
Nice guitar!!

Location: Texas | Thanks for following up guys, and contacting the seller. I see that the reserve hasn't been met, but I think I may bid on this guitar. It looks clean, and is also described that way. |

Location: Texas | Well, I think I'm going to stay away from this one. The seller has it listed as a Pacemaker. From the information you kind folks have provided, and from digging a bit myself, it appears that what's pictured is a 1112, Custom Balladeer. The price of this auction is currently, as of this writing, at $650.
From what I can gather, that may be a bit high for a custom balladeer. The seller MAY have some splainin' to do. On the other hand, maybe everyone will end up happy. |
