This is a stunning guitar. The bottom end rumbles your belly when you play. Beautiful inlaid epis, nice grain and fingerprint to the top, 5 piece wood edge binding including maple trim, 5 piece neck of walnut, oak and cherry, contour bowl, cherry fretboard unlays, OP-Pro Studio. Sounds and plays like a dream. At Moody's NAMM party I think this was the only guitar that never got put down.

The headstock overlay has that whole 1537 style about it ... and that cherry is killer. To me, this is the best Ovation Collector to come around in a long time. |

| Those look SWEET. If I didn't just take possession of 2 more guitars I'd have to give this serious thought. As it is I have to tread lightly with SWMBO. |

Dave has a guitar with a non-glossed neck? I can't imagine it will stay that way for long. |

Jim the 07 doesn't have treble eppies for starters, and the soundboard is made of different wood. It's a completely different guitar. |

Calling them 'Limited Editions' instead. |

I like the idea of using all American materials, and I have heard many good things about Adirondac tops. The individual elements look outstanding in and of themselves, but for some reason the overall appearance of the guitar just doesn't impress me. I don't know what it is, I guess that's just the old personal opinion thing. I'm very happy for those who have an appreciation of it though. |

I would have designed it significantly different, but it is what it is. Sounds wonderful. There's uglier guitars that also sound wonderful. The adamas type neck is pretty freaking nice, however. |

Tell them it's a high tech process and design borne out of extensive research and development. You can't divulge all details because some aspects are still being filed for IP. |

But I don't know, nor do I have a suggestion of what better to put on there.
Just like I had to struggle when Woody asked for hole suggestions on his Moose-Up Classical Elite. |

| Nice but those things around the sound holes are still way too ornate for me even though they're toned down in a big way compared to those other Ovation guitars with the pastel coloured tops and sparkly shit all over them. |

I agree with Bryan, but I absolutely LOVE the binding/purfling on the guitar. I am not crazy about inlaid epaulets, although I prefer inlaid rosettes. That wood must sound delicious.

Oh, and don't pay too much attention to me ... I just like a lot more bling(: 'must be the old "visually-oriented" thing goin' on.
And just for the record ... I like the wooden "wings" whether outie' or innie'. They are the Adamas signature to me, even if it is an Ovation. Everyone should own an Elite style and a round hole just to be indifferent. |

Everything else - beautiful! And I love to see the returning of the Adamas II headstock "inlay overlay".

IT WAS OUTSTANDING for being new and it will continue to get better as it is played (and I know it will get played a lot by Dave!) |

I wish the Adamas line could have some kind of change like that.
The 2010 is a great guitar.
And I think it is very smart of Ovation to make a limited, specific number. That makes them more of a true collector item rather than a exercise in marketing. |

FYI, this is the same guitar that was photographed for the Ovation website. They did cheap out on the tuners (they always do) and didn't include the top of the line case. But those are just cost savings measures and easy to correct on my end. As far as value, you will be surprised how much more affordable the 2010 is than similar wood topped guitars. Call Al. His price may just surprise you and I think he has some low serial numbers available. |

But Dave's & Moody's & Stephen's ringing endorsement carries a lot of weight with me. |

I agree with Dave on the epis. Long overdue for a change.

There are some damn good graphic artists and designers here, maybe some of 'em could come up with some designs? Who knows, somebody from the factory might like some of the ideas. |

I have sent an email to Al about a Blackbird Nylon that I played at NAMM and really liked.
Figured I might give it a try before TJ finds out about them and tries to buy the whole line. |

Comfortable, nice sound unplugged and I really liked the neck which is really key to me.
Plus I wouldn't have to worry about the Colorado humidity issues like a classical with a cedar top. |

I really wasn't quite sure what to expect but here's the short list.
Opened up my 2010LE about 2 hours ago....
I'm not quite sure where to start...
1) I love the contour bowl
2) This is such a beauty... number 10/50.
3) Such a full, rich, warm sound. But the words fall short as this baby seems to redefine what "full", "rich" and "warm"....mean.
4) I found a flaw in the top that has me wrapped around the axle but shouldn't.
Very tiny piece of dust/dirt in the finish with the tiniest of divots
over the top of the dust spot... The divot is in the shape of a half moon with the tiniest of lengthwise lines in the finish on each side of the dirt spot. When I say "tiny" I mean really really tiny. Smaller than a pinhead. Should I take a macro photo of it and send it to Ovation?
When I set it down I think... "Man I didn't need that"... What was I thinkin." ..until I pick it up to play it again....
Gorgeous.....pictures in a few days. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | WOW. The more I play this guitar the more I love it. Sound is not like your typical elite. More like an elite with testicles. I'll try to do some sound clips maybe this weekend.
Bookends? I understood that 50/50 was available. Would sure be a nice mate to 1/50 but I don't think I can swing it right now. If you're interested in it you might want to call Al as soon as possible.
I think the factory is sold out, or at least down to the last few. That's really good news. Gee a limited edition guitar that might actually be collectable. Of course not good news if you're a procrastinator, but oh well.
Hard not to be impressed by the sound, but I gotta tell you starting to think the best part is the dang adamas style neck. Just wonderful, as is the heel cap and the 1537 type headstock overlay. They really didn't hold back on this one at all. If anything they might regret only building 50 of them.
Play on. |
