Most important, again IMO, is that as a beginner, whatever make or model you get is as easy as possible to play.
If the Celebrity plays well and you like it, that's the best choice.
Just be aware that you are starting of with an entry level Ovation. There is nowhere else to go but up. |

I don't know where it's made. I think South Korea, but I don't know for certain and I'm not sure it makes any difference.
Acoustically, the sound's not going to be very good. It's a laminated top super shallow bowl, so it's not going to have a lot of tone.
You're just beginning. Are you planing on plugging it in most of the time (in which case the tone would be fine, but still not great)?
How much do you want to spend? That's going to play a part in your purchase. How are you going to use it? These are questions that are more important than "where's it made".
Good luck with your search. And be patient waiting for an answer. Most people weren't even up when you asked your questions.... |

Assuming that you're from the isle of Cyprus, you may not have many model options available.
But by answering moody's questions, we can assist you in selecting an Ovation that will suit your needs. |

Where is the Ovation Celebrity CC48 Made??? USA, China? Either Korea or China.
The CC48 is a Super Shallow Bowl. I would recommend that you get a 6868AX which is also a Super Shallow Bowl also made in Korea, but has a solid wood top and an OP-Pro preamp.
But I would tell you to go onto eBay and try to find a Used USA Model. You can find some nice USA Elites, and they would be solid top with build-in character. And it might be cheaper than buying a new Celebrity.
I really have no idea what is available in Cyprus.
But mail-order eBay may be the way to go.
And Good Luck with that. |

2. Medium or deep bowl
3. Made in the USA
If you stick with those three things, it shouldn't matter which model you buy. I'm assuming in Cypress you will probably be playing mostly unplugged, so the medium or deep bowl will be more practical. New is great, but you will get more guitar for your money if you buy used. Check the "For Sale" section here regularly, and you will be a lot safer than on Ebay. |

Mid bowl or deep, or the new deep contour bowl.
A used USA LX would be at the top of your price range, but would buy you an excellent guitar. The Elite 6778LX or the Standard Balladeer 1771LX. One of the Elite T models would be a bit less money but would be an excellent guitar as well. Look for a 1778T or 2078T. The T are an unconventional finish, either textured or the Red Flame model. The Red Flame is probably out of your price range.
If you are to buy new, look for a solid top not a laminate top if sound is more important than toughness. Better guitars have a solid top for a better sound. The laminate tops are more resistant to abuse, such as taking it to the beach or taking it camping, but they have a lesser quality of sound. Not that they are bad, they just aren't as nice, so if you think that the guitar will see harsh conditions go ahead with the laminate. |
