Location: Upper Left USA | I have used the Elite/Adamas style of bracing but I want some opinions on where to punch the sound holes.
Option A: Put the holes on the sides and keep the top clean.
Option B: Nearly 2007 Collector's Style.
Option C: Long Oval Pairs.
Option D: Short Ovals.
Option E: Oval Pairs.
Option F: Suggest your own...

They look different enough but still look "right". |

Maybe the guitar shaped "O" used on the cases?

Location: Ontario Canada | Hello MWoody,
A question for the experts. What is the percentage area of the soundhole(s) in relation to the total area of the soundboard please.?
I have an idea for something a little different.

RE:"What is the percentage area of the soundhole(s) in relation to the total area of the soundboard please.?"
You would have to research Hiemholtz Law as there is a ratio od chamber volume, surface area and tone through the open hole.
Off hand, I'd say 18:1 until a better answer shows up. |

Location: Ohio | As far as the soudhole/volume numbers. Take a look at the Martin that Tony Rice plays. Clarence White used to put his cigarettes out on the edge of the sounshoe, and over time opened up the size and that git is a legend.....(no pun intended)
How about 2 well placeed old style f holes...

Then add some fretboard inlays like this guy did here :

Location: Seymour, Tennessee | I kinda like the long ovals but what FlySig was saying would be cool too; Elite-style holes where the round hole would normally go.
Even further if I was doing it, two sets of Bass-side epi holes, big holes facing one in, little holes to the outside.
I can't figure out how to post a drawing of what I'm thinking but do you "see" what I'm getting at?
Anyway, just my two cents.
Tell you what, I'll get you to make me a top and.......
