Location: Utah | Does anybody have a mid bowl such as the 1597 or W597 who can describe how the sound compares to a mid bowl wood topped O and/or how it compares to deeper bowl? |

Location: NJ | since they have not used the full bowl for many years most of the newer ones are mid.
I find little to no difference.

1597 sounded better that 6778LX Elite.
1597 sounded better than W597
Mill-CB sounds better than 1597 (go figure)
1597 sounds different, overall equal to 09C with countour bowl
1597 gets blown away by deep bowl Adamas |

Location: Michigan | Perhaps Al could answer this but it seems the newer guitar bowls in any size--mid, deep, or contour are thinner and lighter and seem to produce a bit more sound? |

Like Al said, they are harder to come by. |

Location: SoCal | Brad, one of these days you should play Jeff's custom Adamas. Mid depth bowl, cutaway and no treble soundholes. Great sounding guitar. One of the few mid depths that I've thought was the cat's ass. You'd like it a lot. And this comes from a deep bowl guy..... |

Location: Denmark | My only Adamas reference is the 1597. It is mid depth. I have not A/B tested it against other members from the Ovation family. Compared to other acoustics I have played, the sound is more brass metal like than wood like and the sustain in the bass region is a bit shorter. Not dull just a bit shorter sustain. When strumming hard the top can appear mechanically saturated giving rise to a slight percussive compression effect. Playing style, top and string gauge needs some balance depending on the sound you are after want. I really like the present setup for fingerpicking.
I find it different to a good conventional wooden guitar almost like the difference between a brass instrument and woodwind instruments. |
