Location: Phoenix AZ | Collings SJ. Spruce top w/ flamed maple back/sides. This plays and sounds very, very sweet. First maple backed guitar I've had and I'm very much loving it. Body size is similar to a Takamine NEX, maybe a tad fatter in the arse. Fit, finish and ohh-la-la is typical Collings standard.

Got to change the tuner bottons. You going black?
Or white grained and go with white pins too? |

The SJ is definitely on my short list for maybe after the first of the year.
I turned my ebay Collings search engine off so I would not be tempted! |

Does it feel more like a 1-3/4 or the smaller size? |

Personally, I can't wait for the Martin OM-28V that will be on its way to SW VA in about two weeks! I am really excited over that one!

Location: SoCal | In the latest issue of Fretboard Journal (John Scofield on the cover), there's a long article on George Gruhn. Evidently in the late 80's he helped design several guitars for Collings to build, with Gruhn's name on the peghead. There's a pic and one of them is identical to the SJ... |

Location: 6 String Ranch | I had one of those. It's more like he talked about what he wanted but Bill Collings made it happen. There were only about 30 of these made. They were very good but they brought about half the amount that a Collings would. I bought mine from Ghrun's shop and I asked why they weren't much money and the answer was the name on the peghead. They were a dread and the SJ type, that's what I had. Nice guitar but a skinny neck. |

so.....I am saying "don't wait for us to sell". Jump into the water....it's not that deep. :D |
