It's 45 degrees here today in Florida and I am literally freezing my tail off. Got the fireplace roaring and the heat turned up. (Does make you want to stick around the house and play guitar, though.) |

I've fired up the grill when its in the 20's many a time. Especially if it's sunny.
Now after this, the list gets kinda silly and has no real bearing on reality. |

BTW: Weaser, Are you getting any of the snow? Definitely. I'm in that Eastern Ontario snow belt so when they talk about "lake effect", they're talking Oswego, Fulton, Syracuse and East. It's snowed for 11 days straight now and isn't scheduled to stop until the weekend. There's an easy 4' in my front yard. Don't know what I'd do if it wasn't a dry cold. |

I'll provide pizza, chips, and pop (for all you off-worlders that's what we call "soda") So if want something else, BYO.
I'll have my humble collection all restrung and tuned for sampling. I'll have an Acousticsonic Jr. out for those who want to fart around with the VXT.
Whatever level you are, polish up your best tunes in the next couple weeks. I don't wanna here than "I can't play" crap.
Closed circuit to Rich (twisted)... I've already heard you play. Ya got no valid excuse.
If you have a good "group" song, bring some cheat sheets. |

Location: south east Michigan | Okay... The BitterCold Jam is about a week away.
In review.... Sunday the 31st... my house... 1:00 till... Oh I dunno.. we'll see how it goes.
I'm looking for some kind of head count so I can bring in the appropriate amount of staff and supplies.
Spouses are welcome. If they have an interest in that scrapbook stuff they can ka-bitz with my wife. I've noticed that her scrapbook stuff has grown in direct proportion to my guitar stuff.
I'll provide pop, pizza and snacks. If you want something else to drink it's BYO.
If you have an Island shirt... wear it. The louder the better.
PM me for my address and directions.
I've cobbled together a proposed agenda.
1:00 to 1:15... take off your coats, boots, gloves, scarfs, fur sided Russian hats, and of course... "leggins'"... then settle in.
1:15 to 2:00... an in depth discussion of every brand of strings you have ever used and the pros and cons of each. You must have a concise, informed opinion or you'll be voted off the island right then and there.
2:00 to 3:30.... we watch a video of Dave's Uke class given at the last Factory Tour... twice.
3:30 to 5:00.... ice fishing
5:00 to 6:30... hot chocolate served while planning a non-violent yet swift and stunning overthrow of the OFC.
6:30 to 7:45... The Freddie and the Fishsticks video will be shown as well as multiple versions of Al playing "Sweet Jane" from any number of OFC gatherings.
7:45 to 8:00... as long as we're on schedule, maybe we can play a guitar. Maybe even a song... maybe even 2 songs.... if they're not long ones. |

Weaser, our 6th member of our band is our soundman. He is from Oswego. He has his own company and rents his massive PA for large events etc. Called "Hurricane Sound & Light". He told me he's glad we are not planning on a lot of work in the winters as his truck is a 28' cab over and he said you can't really tell there is a truck under the massive mound of snow 20' high that its buried under now. |

Jeeze, it'll probably rain tomorrow so everything gets nice and muddy, then get cold again.
Not as cold as it is back in the States but from 140's in the shade to low 30's is rough here.
Different than the desert back in the States (Arizona locales, 29 Palms CA, etc).
I sure wish was able to attend.
Evetually, I'll be able to meet some of you in person, I can't wait! |

I haven't done one of these before. I am looking forward to comparing the Roundholes to the Adamas guitars that will be there. I will be bringing the following to see how they stack up...
OVATION PATRIOT (A/E version)
30th anniversary Custom Balladeer
2009 Collectors (KOA)
40th Anniversary Balladeer
It will be good to listen to other folks play these well too
(as I am usually listening behind the guitar) Looking forward to THE BIG CHILL :D :D |

Probably, must members/lurkers pick up our gits, for whatever reasons, and really have no idea of the projected sounds.
The gatherings I've attended have always expanded my appreciation of my Ovations; especially when played by others...

Who is the proud owner of the Millennium?
Every time I see one of the '09s, I want it even more. |

Location: south east Michigan | Waskel... I had your tour video playing in the background. Muted, but playing.
I gotta say that I was mighty impressed by the display of fine and varied Ovations put together by 5 guys within about a hours drive each other.
And it's only that far because Algonac is kinda... out there. When you drive for a couple miles with nothin' but marsh on both sides, you're getting close. |

finally got to play a few Adamas and compare them to the round holes.
My wife shot some video just to prove we were actually playing the guitars. I couldn't believe the peer pressure actually got me to sing. Thanks to GWB, I have a hat to match my flaming T |

You all played very well and I enjoyed it completely. I will jump at the chance to sit in anytime.

I have played that stupid song 1000 times at home but I just keep driving further and futher off the cliff as Brad would say. |

We could get more guitars together than that with just 3 attendees downunder.
(Coz we got AJ!) :p

Yes, but we'd have to turn the pictures upside down.
I really like the "avatar" you guys have for the downunder group on the ning site. |

Thanks for the hospitality SLIPKID...
Met some great folks and had a great time.
We'll have to do it again when it thaws ...
BTW: Don't let GUITARWANNABEE fool ya. Not only was he the sharpest dresser in the bunch, but that guy can play (even an F Chord). I saw it with my own two eyes... |

One last thing from me.
It was great get the chance to play the guitars the guys brought.
They were all special but a couple stood out.
Roady's re-issue Balladeer was outstanding in an understated, humble way.
Twisted's 12 string had a set up better than a lot of electrics.
I thought I was over the Koa bug but Roady's '09 got it going again.
And there was something different about GWB's Millenium. The carbon weave seemed, well, tighter and smaller than I'd seen before.
At one point I had forgotten what guitar I was playing and had to tip it back and look.
And out of all the guitars, only one did not get picked up.
The SweetwaterT was the only one that never left it's stand. |

I told the son he is cutting into my social life. The wife told me I don't have a social life! Hmmm!
Time to change that... |

The SweetwaterT was the only one that never left it's stand. Someone has to point out that Brad' GC Elite was everthing he said it was and more. It was like a deep bowl legend on steriods. It sounded fuller and crisper than my legend and yet had that nice even tone...and it was a mid bowl! |
