I sound like a dead cat trying to claw its way out of a roomful of rabid dogs... but I'm trying!
It's the Republic Highway 61 travel size resonator. It's the first "parlor size" guitar that I've owned and it works out well for sitting in the office chair playing.

Neck is not straight, at least it looks a like it undulates!
Deep scratches on the fretboard in 3 places!
String spacing not even!
Intonation shot!
The finishing is like something I would expect on a £20 guitar not a £400 one! I wasn't expecting a National Reso quality guitar but was expecting something a LOT better than this.
All in all a piece of s**t. I've emailed Frank at Republic and waiting for a reply :(

| I really like the way it shines and the way the body contrasts the headstock, Mike. I have never played a resonator guitar more than a strum or two, but I think they look cool.
I am spending alot more time with my 000 guitar lately too. I find it is really handy to grab.

Dweezil - I wouldn't say it's 100% perfect, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I definitely don't see the issues that you have though. I'm sure that they were scrambling to get these out for Christmas delivery. I read up on these before deciding to go ahead with them and as with everything, there was much good press and much bad press.
RW - I went on Workshop Live last night just to get a start and it's amazing what a difference a couple of small changes make.

I'm sure they are generally great, and yours probably is. Loads of reviews also said they were great, I think I just got unlucky. |

I got my only non-national resonator (also a Republic parlor size) back in November from Beal, and I've been having a great time with it! Thanks again Beal!
I sympathize with your attempts at playing too; all my nationals are square necked so are played flat on my lap like an electric lap steel. So when I got the republic, I thought, well maybe I'll try that bottleneck blues things. Ha! not as easy as it always looked!
First problem for me was finding a slide that would actually fit over my finger and then trying to play with it just seemed wrong - I mean, I'm not used to using the fingers on my left hand to fret a resonator and I couldn't figure out how to get the sounds that came so easily on the nationals.
But it's coming along, although I will still drop it on my lap occasionally and use a heavy slide on it just to remind myself that those horrid sounds it's producing when upright are actually MY fault - not the Republics'!
By the way, I've not experienced ANY of the problems dweezil stated. My Republic feels tight and well made.
But seeing yours does kind of make me wish it was shiny...

Location: GA USA | ...or Beal... I'm glad we'll have one. I brought my cheapo Johnson to Zilla's and it was still fun to have around. Beal brought three to GB1, I think, including an Ovation reso.
What tuning are you using mostly?
