Location: Utah | Anybody had this happen to their 2080 swoosh?
The guitar arrived with the pointy end lifting the thickness of a pick for the first 1/4 inch. It certainly wasn't worth shipping back for that. Now, 6 months later, the lift has slowly progressed until this week when it looks like this:
The tip is a full 1/8 inch above the sound board. There is a smooth surface where the trim attaches to the top, but I can't tell if it is a strip of adhesive, a strip of double-sided tape, or if the top itself is smoothed there.
Perhaps the ebony in the trim is shrinking and curling the swoosh up. I can't come up with any other explanation, but the guitar has lived in a climate controlled room at 50% humidity since new last summer.
Anybody have this happen to their 2080? |

btw - I can't see the pics from work but I bet it was just loose and lifted out. |

I got no advice for you FlySig. Sorry. But I want to hear the final answer in case mine ever starts up with that nonsense. |

Location: SoCal | The tip of the blowhole swoosh on the "used" one that I came across at Guitar Center was not glued down (maybe that's why it was marked "used"). It was not lifting like yours. I didn't think it was much of a problem and it did make a great pick holder. If it had been popped up as much as yours, I probably would have been able to get a better price quote. After I posted about coming across it and you guys said how much you liked yours, I went back and it was gone. Too bad, now that I see how easy it is to remove... without the metal swoosh on the blowhole, I might be able warm up to a 2080. |

Location: Upper Left USA | At first read without the pics (Work firewall is anti Photobucket) I thought it was the Swoosh inlay on the Fretboard and I did make a pseudo "Ivar" reference thinking it was an Abalone/MoP issue.
That looks worse but the answer is the same. Re-adhere it with Cyano or whatever Mother recommends.
Or rip it off completely and replace it with some ebony, I never did bond with that Cat's Eye trimmy thing. |

But this is a great opportunity to make a nice looking guitar outta that one.
Needless to say, I always disliked that feature of that model of that guitar... It's Fugly. |

Location: Denmark | Good that You got the thing reattached nicely, FlySig. It is a pity that on guitars that are branded as top level guitars bonding failures seems to be quite common. I had parts of the epaulette trimming fall off of my Adamas. Refixed easily with with cyano acrylate glue, but still, a $4800 guitar (DK list price). |
