Location: SW Washington | Hi gang! I just uploaded a new song I am writing called Montego Morning. It is still in the beginning stages, but here is how it sounds so far. I love the way it sounds on this 6778...I think this guitar was MADE for this! I am not sure how to link the music, so here is the addy to my page

Feedback is welcomed! thanks!

Location: Tennessee | Nice work David! I really like the lick and the progression. If I was going to make one comment, it would be to kill off all of the effects on the guitar except for maybe a tiny little touch of chorus and reverb. Let the natural sound of the guitar come through! |

Location: SW Washington | Thanks Bobbo! I sometimes use the echo to help mask my shaky playing, lol. Once I get it cleaner and under my fingers a little better I will try it clean. I still need to work on a melody for it too. It was inspired by Shahin and Sepehr's music. I love their style and rhythms. |

Location: Right now? | Hi, David! I listened to your songs, and with all due respect, I agree with Stonebobbo's comments ~ good advice. You do need to "let the natural sound of the guitar come through."
Just yesterday, I installed an iDea preamp (thanks again, Iffy!) into mine to play around with, because I have no recording equipment and know even less about recording than I do playing, but I think I have a pretty good ear and sure do have fun learning anything I can.
My big "hurrah" for the week (and don't you other guys laugh at me, OK?) was learning "Crazy on You" by Heart. Simple enough for all the REAL guitar players on here, but for me a major accomplishment of fast (for ME) changes, fast strumming, etc! I even added a little Spanish style intro! Of course I wouldn't even attempt to sing it ...
Now that I've got it 'down', I'm sick of the song already! Geesh!
I put some DR RARE (the "handmade string")phosphor-bronze medium lite strings on mine yesterday also ~ what comfortable strings to play ~ they sound really good, too. Keep up the good work.
;)

Nice job! |

Location: SW Washington | Hey Willa...I just learned the intro to Crazy on You last summer...I Love playing the intro and have on several occasions spent an hour just playing it over and over in total amazement that I can actually play it! lol It was the first song I learned on the LX I bought from Damon.
Thanks for the comments too! And thank you too iffy! I suppose if I were more coordinated and a techno guru I could figure out a way to switch the echo on and off. But I don't know if I could stomp on a pedal without throwing off my rhythm. I don't sing for that very reason...I cannot sing without totally screwing up the rhythm of my playing. You have heard of people that can't walk and chew gum at the same time? I have difficulty walking and breathing at the same time! :D |

Seems like iffy had a little trouble with the walking part awhile ago.
OK. Now I guess I need to add the intro to Crazy On You to the New Years Resolution list. It was on last year's but never made it very far. I did learn a few that weren't on the list. I tend to lose interest in songs sung in a key that's too high for me. If I could do the intro, it seems like "OK, now what?" |

Location: SW Washington | One thing about the intro to Crazy On You...if you just repeat it 2 or 3 times it can stand on its own as a great fingerstyle tune. No need to play the vocal cords. :D |

And the Crazy on you intro is a staple around my house... all the wife wants to hear is that and Classical Gas *rolls eyes* |

Location: Newington, CT | Very nice song, David! Yes, I agree with the other comments about the effects, but you have a GREAT idea for a song there! Fine melody, upbeat rhythm, the makings of a very fine song. Also, the makings of a very fine JAM song. I could see (uhhh..."hear?") myself soloing over that for a really upbeat, jazzy jam tune! |

Location: SW Washington | Great Idea Fly! I think I will do exactly that. Record it in stereo with the echo on one channel and not the other cut the parts from the echo channel I don't want and cut the rest from the other channel then monoize the entire thing back together.
Hey Alan, do you use Audacity? I could send you the Audacity file if you want to play around with a solo part...I would love to hear what you can do with it. I have been trying to do that myself but need some inspiration/ideas. Maybe we could end up co-writing it? I think I am going to re-record it with an extra verse or two to allow for some solos and maybe an extra chorus too. It is most definitely still evolving at this point. |

Location: Newington, CT | Hi,David! I do indeed use Audacity. Great software! I'll PM you with an e-mail address, but I think I can just use the mp3 to give you an idea...I'll give it a try.

Location: SW Washington | Okay Alan! I hope to get a clean copy recorded within the next day or two. I work retail so this time of year is somewhat hectic to say the least. I have Sunday off (yes I am working Christmas!) so if I can't get to it before, I am sure I can do something Sunday. I look forward to hearing what you come up with. :D |
