So they were made 10 years apart, so what? People on the OFC have asked more than once how they compare. So much so, that I finally became determined to find out for myself. It took a few years and a complete rebuild of the Book courtesy of UPS (Unbridled Package Stompers), but I can now offer my in-depth, head-to-head analysis of these two very fine instruments.

THESE THINGS JUST STONK!!!!

(BTW, stonk means they sound fantastic... )

I'm blest if I can tell Beal! I would say I probably play the Book more often, though that may be because I haven't had it as long. But every time I think it trumps the 87 in some way, I play the Collectors and just soak in the tone.

They're more different than I thought they would be. The 87C is bassier. The Book has more sustain. They both play like butter. I guarantee that neither one will be neglected when it comes to playing time.

They're both great guitars, and I'm GLAD to own them!
