I rated all the Ovations/Adamii that I have now or have owned. A couple non-O's tossed in.
Scale 1(worst) to 10 (best); keeping six strings in a separate category from 12 strings:
Rating 6 string
1 Rogue
2 AA21
3 CC028, Tak Jasmine
4 1111, 1123, 1113, 97C (orig)
5 93C (orig)
6 97C (rebuilt)
7 W597, 6778LX, 1657, 93C (rebuilt), Mill-CB
8 1597, 09C
9 1681
10 1187
"None" means I haven't owned something that fit that rating (yet).
This might provide a touchstone to see if your comparitive ratings agree. Whaddya think? |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | There is not enough room for all the guitars I have owned...lets just say that the Martin, Taylor, and Adamas I guitars that I currently own are all at the top of the acoustic list...Gibson, Fender, and PRS make the electric top of the heap... |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Every one of my guitars is a 10. What I mean by that is ...
If you could rate your guitars 1 through 10, why would you even bother owning numbers 1 thru 9? 10 is the best one so why would you not play that one 100% of the time?
Ah, because each is different and have their own "niche". Soooo, in my book all of my guitars are "10" in their own individualways. Otherwise I wouldn't own them. |

If I don't like 'em I sell 'em. Sometimes even if I Do like them I still sell 'em. |

What did you rate them based on? Dave,
My rating is based on how pleasing the sound is to my subjective ear. My ear likes "A" over "B", so unit "A" gets rated higher.
Unless there's a compelling reason to keep unit "B" (drop dead looks, sentimental value, used for a niche, etc) then unit "B" is on it's way out. The parlors fit into that area. I have better sounding guitars, but I don't always want to play a cannon, drown out who I'm playing with, or don't want to wrestle with a big bowl, so they get played a lot and are keepers. The best sounding guitar I had I got rid of because I couldn't abide its looks!
But if others have experience with same or similar models and agree with this rating that "A" sounded better than "B", with enough samples we could compile a pretty neat bell curve of the Ovation family. |

Although he's fallen out of grace, the point is that whatever you're playing should be your favorite at the time, or don't even carry it in the bag. I'm better applying that to guitars than I am to golf clubs. Every guitar has a different purpose and is tops for that purpose. Otherwise, it needs to go. |

I could never understand how someone who has everything could throw it away for a bunch of skanks.
Back to guitars ... I give each one a full day of attention on rotation. |
