GC is 70 today.
Does this mean his mom doesn't work at the factory any more?

I did send him an OFC calendar.
Or maybe I should say that I sent one to his "people".

It says 70 in the British press - must be the time difference. No wonder I get jet-lagged.

I stopped eating cake a long time ago.

Now and then, True Grit shows up on tv. Nice to see him in his prime, and John Wayne's only Oscar winning performance. I think GC won a Grammy for the theme song.

Schroeder,
I guess the British Press doesn't always get it right. They reported the collapse of World Trade Center Building #7 before it actually happened.

Go figure...

Happy Birthday Glen.

Thanks for all the tunes, great playing, fun TV show, The Smothers Brothers, and just being a pretty decent guy....near as I can tell.

Long life and good health!

strummin the shiny 1115 now.... Happy Birthday Sir!

and it would look good with a GC trc... tho I was never able to seem to get one that was on the way...

the neck from the bluebird, that probably still has some of GC's DNA embedded somewhere... is on it's way to AU...

Thank you again Glen, for all the years and music,
I grew up planted in front of the TV for most if not all of your shows and specials... and my introduction and fascination with Ovation Guitars.

Thank you for the GAS.... you started it.

may you live for, and sing for, many more of them,
and to us all.

Happy Birthday Glen!!!!

Play On!

GH

Have any of you guys ever tracked down video footage of GC and George Benson from some music awards show years ago? I was just a little tyke, they were playing a jazz-type instrumental, and Glen was playing a 12-string Deacon and just smoking! I've never seen it since, but I'd like to.

I remember Benson being on the Goodtime Hour once. He and Campbell played something like an ad-lib duet. But, both of them were playing 6-string guitars...wow, that's been a long time ago, surprised I thougth of it. I've wondered about the early shows and tv specials, etc. Who's got the rights to them, and what it takes to get copies...

Maxdaddy;

I've read much about the Campbell/Benson guitar duel but have never actually seen it anywhere. Maybe it'll show up on Youtube some day.

There's got to be a source for who would still have the original videos of thos early shows. I'll try the George Benson website (if he actually has one..)

My understanding is that it was from the Midnight Special series of late 70's, early 80's.

Ok, maybe there's someone who has a collection of those then. (The George Benson website doesn't have an email address.)
