Location: South of most, North of few | Proud papa (and rightfully so) Keith, (War Eagle) had a guitar commissioned through David Taylor (I believe) for his beautiful daughter Savannah, and premiered it at the SSSJ. I'm sorry the pictures don't do the guitar justice, but it's the best I could muster at the time. Check out the inlay on the neck with her birthday on the back of the headstock. Includes an "S" sound port.

Keith still remembers his first git as a ute, a 1111 Balladeer, that Jim, his Dad, bought him. Can you imagine the story and heritage that Savannah's G-babies will be blessed with...?
For those that have met Keith, this should not be surprising. So many have benefited from his love for music and folk.
Thanx Jim for posting that. I got to admire that beaut up close and thought, "What a heartfelt and treasured gift". |

They coulda bought me one with B&W Raleigh cigarette coupons.
(We still have bags of them at my Mom's house)
Great Guitar! So do y'all have a sound-clip of Savannah playing it?
I love hearing kids play better than me! |

Once my brother got old enough to lick and not try to swallow the stamps, I was off the hook. We also had a yellow stamp collection that wasn't S&H (can't remember the name).
To get back on topic... I never saw an S&H 'wish' catalog with a guitar near as fine as Savannah's!
: OMA, go on line and see if ya can get a B&W 'catalog'. As of last year, they were still offering a limited 'gift' selection. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I thought I was doing well by getting 83 and 87 Collector's for our daughters' birth years. They both played them, maybe a little more than twice, and they are sitting in my basement along with the Roland keyboard that one of them had to have. It's especially true for fathers that it is better to give than receive. |

As far as your kids not playing their gifts, that only goes to show you that you should buy them gifts that YOU want. |

Encourage the kid. Even when there's nothing worth encouraging. |

Bingo! Those were quite limited down here (a few gas stations, primarily). I don't think we ever filled a 'book' with those.
As to whether our offspring embrace 'our' interests or not, is, ultimately, up to them. All we can do is to provide as many different positive youthful experiences as possible to aid them in finding their niche and expand their appreciation of life. |

Encourage the kid. Even when there's nothing worth encouraging. Trust me....I bought her a guitar, worked with her on learning some basic things, but she lost interest fast. Now it hangs on the wall in her room. Maybe she'll get interested somewhere down the road, once facebook, myspace, texting, her ipod, and boys no longer rule her life. |

Paul will never lack for guitars, they may change every week, but he will surely find one that he likes...if only his father will keep it. ;)
The beauty of Savannah's guitar is only surpassed by it's sound. |

Location: Chicago | Exactly my story, Miles: Blue Chip Stamps, 1968, thirteen or so booklets full. My dad frowned on music, guitars etc. So I started lickin' stamps. I got a nice little steel string just like the one in your pic that I played for FIVE years until I could afford my first Ovation (which I'll take to the gig Thursday!). |

I still have my very first guitar though, a midget nylon-string ultra ukelele.
My daughter said she has dibs on my 88.
I am going to get her and my boy an O for a shared late Christmas present when I get home.
I hope they'll keep with it.
That is an absolutely beautiful guitar. Amazing gift, She's a lucky gal! |
