You're just a wonderful guitarist, and a generous human being. I am so enjoying listening to your CD, and I recommend it enthusiastically to everyone! ( www.guitarsoffire.com for those who haven't yet visitied. It's well worth it.)

By the way, there was a thread recently where I waxed eloquent (or at least I thought so) on the virtues of the fast run, and you politely demurred to the effect that sometimes we pay too little heed to the musical value of the strategically-placed silence or the slow, languid melody.

You were right. You mix graceful, fast, beautifully executed runs with well-placed silence or expressive languidness, all of which build anticipation, punctuate other instrumental contributors, or are just the right ingredient for the music at that point.

You give me a nice, HIGH bar to shoot at. Maybe some years from now, I'll get close to where you are now! At which point, I'm assuming you'll have raised the bar even further! Life is good!

Great stuff!

Thanks so much for the great review, Alan. I think it's YOU who are generous. Please don't forget that more than half of the guitar tapestry is OFCs own Jeff Burns (his Elite has a bit of chorus, mine is the "straight" Adamas 1581 sound). I think our drummer Joe DeJohns did a fantastic job at that session, given that he was only JUST learning the tunes.

I'm happy to send the CD (a demo, really: not worth charging a fellow OFCer)to anyone who wants to forward their snail address to me.

Yes...they contribute mightily and well. Thanks for correcting my oversight. The CD is an absolute delight! Can't recommend it highly enough!

I'd LOVE to take in a performance of your group! Maybe I'll get out there some day!

Best,

Alan

All: it's very much worth it! Great guitarists playing great stuff! (as well as a fine percussionist keeping them on pace)

I've had a lot of fun sharing this recording (last March). We're practicing now to make the formal version of our first "published" CD. Again, thanks so much for the feedback!

Just my humble opinion, dobro, but you should be playing to stadia packed to the rafters with music afficionados who spend the remainder of the evening debating whether you played it better or Al, Or John, Or Paco, or Larry, or, or or...

I never forget the first joy I had holding a guitar: I was 11 yrs old and it filled me with such a longing I simply HAD to have some. Still trying!
