Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I have a friend who went through a nasty divorce, closed down his very good corporate law practice, packed up all his belongings into storage, and then enrolled in a one year intensive guitar performance course at the Music Institute in Hollywood, California. This is the same guy who inspired me to get back into more serious playing 10 years ago, and it was his corporate bandroom that inpired me to build mine. Interesting turn in his career. I just wonder how good a player could get by taking that same money and paying Matt Smith for a year or two of intense private instruction? |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | He's been playing for 50 years and is an outstanding player. He was burned out in his prior life and has decided to give his playing 100% of his attention for the next year of his life and then see where it takes him. He's in his late fifties and says the class is filled with nothing but long-haired teens and 20-somethings, all of whom are better players than him. |

It DOES get you to thinking, though!
If I didn't have two young children when MY nasty divorce was done, I might have done something similar! |

Probably either is a good choice. He might like the weather better in LA. I wouldn't. |
