I have been doing the open mic circuit for a while and the one thing that is obvious to me is that in the new mellenium you need a my space to "promote" your music.
The first thing out of people's mouths these days is what is your my space I want to check out your tunes. Sue insisted I build a my space for "lost ARt" well there are quite a number of people calling themselves Lost Art but I settled on LostARTUSA
if you go to the myspace.com/lostartusa yuo will find one of my original songs and a short blog about how I wrote it.
This is my first venture into the myspace to promote my music. I am not so sure I want to put quality recordings up there since it is sort of may block any CD venture that I plan to eventually do.
so sit back and hopefully enjoy one of my originals. If you don't like it that's cool too.
thanks

I know what you mean about MySpace: I put one up a few months ago because of the same thing. The old website took 70 minutes to load etc etc. Plus, everyone expects you to be on MySpace. What's your myspace? |

Lenny Bruce used to call the clubs he played toilets. because they were scummy low rent places.
I tend to do the same since I played mostly the same type of places. |

We're all having to shift gears on this subject a bit Al. The unfortunate fact is that CD sales are dismal. People want downloads. My last CD is languishing in boxes, physically, but selling on iTunes and CDbaby.
I'm not sure I'll ever have a full run of CD's pressed again.
As far as giving a few tunes away as sample downloads, I've seen some pretty convincing evidence from independents that it actually increases download sales.
It's definitely a new world... and the "rules" are still being written.

here is where I throw in the towel.
I uploaded the tune added it to the playlist
wrote a blog about it and it does not show in the song list.
this is why I avoided this for so long. I just wasted an hour and a half trying to figure out what i did wrong |

Location: Tennessee | Ah ... you just might have to wait for a while. Sometimes when I've put songs up it can take as long as 24 hours before it shows up. I thought they were getting better at that, but ...
Maybe you ought to post the music to your ning page and promote the music that way? ;) |

My myspace is
Slackenback
but I tend to like the OFC social site better. You don't have the 6 song restriction but I guess myspace is better known ;) |

MySpace is so yesterday. While still a mainstay, and will be for awhile, it's starting to morph into more of a commercial outlet. Facebook is trying to stay in the running of social networks and has gained more of an International crowd, but Ning is gaining/growing fast. Still a ways to go, but in gaggles of social networks, everyone is learning from mySPace's wins and looses and cashing in on it.
For those on Ning, when logged into your favorite site, just go to Ning.com. You'll see they ripped a page (excuse the pun) right from Facebook. Just went live yesterday and more to come.
Ning's ace in the hole is any programmer who wants to write an app to use, can uploaded to Ning and if it works, anyone can use it. Also, if you want to control your own network, loose the ads all that... you can. More space, just pay for it. etc etc..
You heard it hear... but maybe not first.. :)
We now return you to our regularly scheduled proramming. |

I finally joined and jumped on the bandwagon
I added a new tune "Quicksilver" which was my tribute to John Cippolina.
this will be it for a while. I have to record some of my newer stuff and get it up there but of course my recording stuff is not cooperating
thanks for all the kind words and support |
