Not sure If these was discussed before. So I decide to post a new topic here.
As a Adamas user, lover or collector, what do you think about this model?

Location: Bangkok, Thailand | What I like are the slothead, which is always look cool, the VIP-5 and the single epaulet.
Dislike the contour bowl and think that the inlay like 08C must be much better.
Also surprise that these model didn't appear in the US market. |

Karl, it's a 1-11/16" nut and the price it too high at my opinion... :(
But it's a so great looking guitar especially in beige color!!!

Location: south east Michigan | Seeing all those different bursts in a row reminds me. I just can't learn to like them.
Wood top bursts a different. They seem natural. Maybe the wood grain ties the two colors together. A burst on a graphite top seems abrupt and un-natural.
Solid black is great. Solid anything would be better.
And I'm with Temp on the idea of a hand-laid, contour bowl.
Has anyone played enough of the three generations of bowls to compare? I guess I'd break them down to 1) hand-layed 2) molded and 3)improved LX molded.
In about 10 days I'll be using a contour bowl more than I ever had before. After that I'll have a definate opinion on how they work for me.
Like Moody, I've never had a problem with the original design.
Now that I've rambled on and taken this thread in multiple directions, I'll shut up.
One more thing... Why don't they make these for the US market? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Don't blame Ovation for not making these for the US market. They just build what the dealers or distributors order.
In the US, Lost Art Vintage is pretty much the only dealer with a vision to order high end custom runs for his client base. Sammy and GitCtr will order custom runs of more mainstream models (legends, elites).
But in Japan (Nakao) and Europe (formally LeBoit in France and MusikMeyer in Germany) those guys had been doing this for years. Some of the coolest models I've ever seen have been commissioned by these distributors.

Took them back the next day...
Go check out a nice set of All-Clad stainless cookware, and for a $700 - $1000 set of high grade cookware, it's made overseas as well.
I'm working my way into a set of Kitchen Craft - made for over 100 years in Wisconsin. It's not a wonder our national economy is so much in the toilet...we've spent the last 30 years sending all our jobs and all our money overseas, and we wonder about the rest of it.
Basic economics:
[greedy people] + [too much unnecessary debt] + [reduced job pool] = [ECONOMIC CRISIS]
Sorry, I digress...let's get back to the guitars. |

The Japanese market seems to understand that you need to pay for quality, which is probably why they are only available in that territory. Also bear in mind that these are catalog prices, not dealer discounted prices, so the actual price over there may be somewhat lower.
I make a significant proportion of my living from importing and selling musical instrument accessories and I am painfully aware of how the current global econony is affecting the manufacture and distribution of music products. Mark my words, the days of cheap gear are coming to an end. Very soon. |

| When I saw the 08 collectors my fist thought was...Why didn't they just finish it and do the carved headstock. Now I find out they not only did these with the carved heads but in different colors as well but those of us in the US market did not have access to them? Jes if I was a guy who spent a lot of money and had been known to buy a high end Ovation from time to tiome I'd be slightly offended. |

Location: CA | Love the outie, the slothead is pretty. But never cared for the reverse burst paint, the silly 'metalflake' junk sprinkled in Adamas paintjobs and - third strike - the contour bowl.
But I could probably live with the black one. |
