I have e-mailed Judy to notify her that we are desirous of taking over her place on the weekend of the 5th, 6th and 7th of June.
As I have more updates, I will pass them along immediately!
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...Would you all please let me know who will be attending?
Thanks!

Again, I won't be needing a room as I live 25 mins away.
I will throw this out. If Anyone wants to go but due to finances feel they can't, if you don't mind a couch or cot I can let a couple of you stay at my Apt to help aliviate some cost. |

| Sorry, Alan. We don't mean to hijack your thread. Look over some of the old threads announcing earlier gatherings, though, and you'll see all manner of tangents and useless asides. It's all part of the fun & close friendships many of us share, and a way to let off steam in anticipation of the event. Eventually, folks get back on topic (only to go off, then back on, etc.). |

Since last Thanksgiving I have been making monthly trips to West Hartford. My mother-inlaw sold her house in New York and is now living with my sister-inlaw. I will let my family know to keep that weekend available.

| I am sure Alan has me down Mark, my response was a while before this thread was even posted. Several of us responded in the last thread not just myself. I don't plan to get a room and I think Alan needs to give the people at the Hotel an idea of the number people traveling who need a room ASAP to reserve the space and the rooms.
From there I suppose as it gets closer credit cards will be needed o reserve rooms officially. But what do I know I have not organized one of these before.
I suppose a lot of us were thinking there might be a Factory thing anyway this year and had not seriously considered a gathering. I have no Gig's for this weekend so far and don't plan to take any unless they are lucrative. Even then I can find time to run out for a few hours. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. |

The front desk needs to be able to do business.

If thats the case and they don't allow us to plug everyone in, I have a Fishman Loudbox 100 2 channel amp for the singer and lead to plug in, IF needed and allowed. |

The Homewood Suited LOVES the OFC. The times I made arrangements with them they had employees ASKING to work the shifts we were there. They have conference rooms. The Lobby is setup where it's not a real intrusion unless it gets loud and to my knowledge there are no rooms off the lobby.
In any case, just talk to them. Guests of the hotel stopped by as well. The hotel is not in a "tourist" area, it just happens to be close to the airport, so they get a lot of stop-over and business traffic.
Also... don't over-think it. (yeah, that was mr. A-R programmer/Geek that said that).
"but, I will assume that someone offers up a song and sings, someone else will throw some fill and lead in while others are playing chords. " It's kinda like that... but not as organized... It just comes together. Sometimes people listen, sometimes play. As I think Beal mentioned... just build it... they will come. |

| IF the front office is OK with it, a small amp/PA might be nice for a vocalist. When you get 6 to 12 Ovations/Adamii together in a room it's hard to hear a singer over them. Otherwise, what's already been said - the free-form jam is very cool.
Edited to add: Alan, no worries. You get even 2 OFCer's together, you're guaranteed to have a great time. The more the merrier. |

Location: Newington, CT | Alright, alright, alright...very funny (I'm not kidding -- it is!), but I need a T-Shirt I can give people that they can wear in front of their (and my) kids!
So, if there is no objection, I am just going to start making decisions for the thing and go with them.
I CAN announce that I have commissioned a very imprtant artist to produce an original work of art to appear on the T-Shirt. I wanted (1) to give him some guidance for the art work, and (2) to give youse guys some input as to that guidance.
So, without further ado, I announce the following:
Event Name: NexJam '09. Reason: more room on the shirt for art -- less room required for letters. Other names were definitely better, but this was the shortest, while still saying what it is.
Logo: to be designed by the artist, but I will pass on specs to him or her (not tellin' who it is yet) |

NEX is a Takamine body size/style. Anyway it's a good name. Wish I could be there. You guys will have a blast.
I'll never forget the very first OFC gathering we had. I drove to LA and all the way there was thinking "this is going to pretty bad if I'm the only one who shows up". But alas it was well attended and I met some of my longest and closest OFC friends.
Have fun. |
