| I'm watching this auction. The seller says it'a an Elite. But, I've never seen an Elite with a bound rosewood fingerboard sans fret markers. He's going to send me a pic of the label. I just can't wait.. ;)

| It's a Korean Celeb. You can tell by the shape of the fretboard end. That and the rosewood fretboard. Also, Elites have a 5-piece neck, so a skunk stripe should be visible on the headstock paddle (unless it's a -1 or -5, then the headstock is painted). |

| G8r, that's what I thought, but the guy says the label says it's an Elite. Also, the saddle says it's a Celeb as well, not even a Pinnacle... |

Good luck, it seems to be in good condition… |

| Steve - if he sends you a pic of a label that says "Elite" & "Made in New Hartford, CT" then run - fast - because he's trying to scam you. There's no doubt whatsoever that it's a Celeb. Elites were never made with anything other than spruce tops. That thing's plywood - pretty plywood, but plywood nonetheless. |

This is a classic scam, has all the signs...
1. Terrible spelling
2. Photoshop'd image
3. Inaccurate listing
THIS SHOULD BE REPORTED TO EBAY AS A SCAM ASAP!
Me I have sent the seller this...
"Please send me a close up of the label inside the holes as the image has been edited. I STRONGLY suspect this is a SCAM and will report you to Ebay! They will hunt you down!" |

You can see a trace of a label in the left bottom most sound hole, but its pitch black in all the other holes. Hmmmm... No light entering the body even though the flash is dead straight on and the holes are solid black.
Yet in the other Elite the label is clearly visible,

All his transactions have been as the buyer.

Nothing in 1993 MSRP'ed over 2K 'cept an Adamas.
That's got some really purdy plywood... Offer him $333.33!
(That's what I sold my Purdy CS257 for... And that is what that is.) |

So relax guys, turns out #130286513985 is a legit Elite afterall! ;) :D
In defense of the seller, it's quite possible he got duped when buying the guitar for himself. Let's hope the scam ends here - Caveat emptor!

"This is the discription I bought it under I will pull the item and email pictures and serial number to ovation to find out what it is"
Of course, the listing is still up there. :p
I really feel for him if he got scammed. And I don't think any 'innocents' would give him $600 or a thousand bucks anyway.
There are too many really nice Real Elites out there for less. |

| Seller revised the description, no mention of the word "Elite." Still, it's caveat emptor, since he hasn't sent anybody pictures of the apparently blacked-out label, and doesn't call it a Celeb. Very cadgey. |
