Location: NJ | I finally got all the details worked out to offer the second OFC guitar.
It will be based on the 2080 and will be a tone MONSTER. When I was up at the factory a couple of weeks ago I was told about a few bodies and necks that were built but never assembled. I was intrigued. I asked some questions, made some calls and struck a deal to offer you this limited edition guitar.
Adamas 2080
-hand laid Fiberglass contour bowl
-Black binding
-Black textured bowl
-Blackburst finish
-Black gloss maple neck
1 11/16"
set neck similar to 08 collector's
-Ebony fingerboard
-OP-PRO preamp w/ db boost button (henceforth known as the alpep boost) this has never been done in any other guitar than the Al D model
xlr and 1/4" outputs
-Open back Sperzel tuners brushed nickel
-9158-0 case
black nut
black saddle
numbered 1/1-1/8
certificates for custom order
laser vibrometer chart
special labels signed by CWK and myself
Certificates signed by CWK and myself
These are limited to 8 guitars. 1/8 I am reserving for myself.
The price on this guitar is very reasonable. The list is around $5000
I see this guitar as a modern version of the Adamas for those that are into the look and who like the option of the db switch for lead playing.
If you want to mate it with a koa that has the same number I will offer a free idea preamp with the purchase.
Interested?
e me to reserve yours. |

the maple neck has a different feel than the mahagony. It may add some brightness to the guitar but that is yet to be determined.
If you played an elite T you will get the idea. |

My agreement with KMC is that I cannot post prices that aren't map. since this is a custom order I am really not sure how that applies but If you e me I would be happy to send you a price. it is rather reasonable! |

Cliff maybe you can post a copy of the label and certificate.
I have also requested laser vibrometer readings for each guitar.
This may be your last chance at a cool fan club guitar that is really special!!!!! |

If it was a wide neck, I am afraid I would already be committed and my cc charged!
Still, I think I need to go and play my 47RI and see if the smaller neck is really a noticeable issue with me now that Beal has converted me to the dark side of manly necks! |

The OFC-II guitar is very much like my namm proto except for the bowl, textured back and different electronics. VERY cool guitar and Al's selling them for quite a lot less than I paid for mine. These should go FAST, especially the wide nikkers.

If a number doubles itself, that increase is 100%. Logically, then, an argument might be made that if a 10 db boost represents an increase of 100% in sound, then perhaps a boost of 4 db would represent an increase of 40%. Real experts might comment how a 40% boost in sound equates to a turn of the volume dial on a guitar, amp or PA. |

…it's keeping a straight face that might be tough…
As I mentioned to Al a while back, the specs on this guitar are close to my personal definition of the perfect Adamas. The photos just made it even more appealing…
I decided to "settle" for a 2080, (and I have no regrets about buying it,) but in the (unlikely) event that the stars align correctly while there are still any left, I'll be calling Al… I can't imagine that they will last very long though… |

So who's ready to give a full review of the OFC II? I went in caring nothing about it, actually wanting to hate it was the term I think I told Crimson. However, upon seeing it in person I was blown away with its looks. I didn't get a chance to play it that long, but just couldn't get over how lightweight it is. It is loud, and has great sustain. I thinks it's just an excellent example of a high tech Adamas and although I wanted to commit to buying one on the spot, I differed to SWMBO. When she saw pictures of it on Monday, there was no hesitation, she said "You call Al right now or I will!!!"
Really, the price is not as bad as you think, actually very reasonable! |

Not quite. 10dB is 10 times louder than the treshold of hearing (near silence) An increase of 10dB to 20dB is 100 X louder than the threshold of hearing and 30dB would be 1000 times louder and so on
Doubling of intensity equates to an increase of just 3dB. The difference between 3dB and 4dB doesn't account to much in the real world.
The dB scale is arcane, complex and counter-intuitive. I'm pretty rusty on it now because I'm not dealing with it daily like when I was teaching. |

Al seems to be able to create these beauties and sell them in a flash, so I figured he must be plotting a 3rd (or 4th if you include the Koala). Lucky for me the OFC II didn't trigger my GASometer, but I'm still paying off my 1680 anyway. If he does come up with something that gives me GAS, I need a long lead time to work on SWMBO. |

It's unlikely we'll see anything like these again. As per the first post, Al (as usual, but not often enough) was at the right place, at the right time. "When I was up at the factory a couple of weeks ago I was told about a few bodies and necks that were built but never assembled. I was intrigued. I asked some questions, made some calls and struck a deal to offer you this limited edition guitar. "

It is loud, and has great sustain. I think it's just an excellent example of a high tech Adamas This was the first guitar I picked up to play off of TnT's wall at his house on Saturday when we got together ...and it was the last one I put back on the wall before leaving. I have played a lot of guitars and a lot if Adamas's before...it takes a lot to impress me...but I was absolutely blown away with this guitar...it plays like butter (really!), has big volume if you need it or it can whisper deceitfully restrained...the bass is huge and yet the overall sound is balanced...the looks are so stealthy yet it gleams like a new gloss obelisk...the small inlaid position markers on the side of the neck are 3-D like...and the inlaid pearl Adamas logo against the gloss black headstock is elegant w/a capital E. I also liked being able to switch the OP Pro for the IDea preamp and have a backup jam to practice lead riff's to.
Has anybody had a chance to try out the boost button yet? Yes Brad, I did and it works great...nice added feature. I can see the advantage while playing live to just press the boost button and launch into a lead riff...
Another very nice unique feature is the open back tuners...really fits well with the overall high tech look and feel of the OFCII guitar...
In a word (and I told Tim Saturday) I was hooked...
In fact, I was so impressed that first thing this morning (after a 9 hour drive back home yesterday) I called Al and arranged to get one of my own...The guitar is that incredible...I believe I have the last standard neck...at least one wide neck was still available...
I can't thank Al enough for having these built and offering them to the OFC...it is way better than anything else out there...and I can hardly wait to have it here in house... |

I own the Custom Shop Proto that the OFCII was based upon (minus the boost button, plus total gloss finish) so the OFC II's should go to other homes.

One of the guys up at my office played the WN OFC2 and asked if there were any more available. |

Make it to one of the gatherings. Good chance you'll get to see and play one. |

What has really surprised me about this guitar is how much vibration I can feel in the neck when I play it. More than any other guitar I've ever played. It must be the way the set neck is used on these. The guitar is really resonant to start with, and to feel the neck vibrating in your hand is amazing. |

Maybe someone will wake up and smell the coffee and grab the last one of these you have before they are all gone forever! |

Personally, I think that when they are gone, they're gone as I don't see them coming up for sale anytime soon... |

You guys have no idea how this is killing me. My guitar is vertually identical to the OFC II with the exception of the finish (shiny bowl) and electronics (no Alpep boost button). AND it cost me more than the OFC II.
There is no justification in the world why I would need the OFC II. None, None, None. Yet I think about this every freaking day. I was "OK" until there became only ONE left.
STOP IT ... NOW !!! |

STOP IT ... NOW !!! Dave, far be it from me ( buy it ) to ever suggest that you should ( buy it ) be enticed to ( buy it ) give in to pressure and make a ( buy it ) purchase based on anything less than need and ( buy it ) practicality...You know how pushy the OFC can ( buy it ) sometimes be in trying to exert their ( buy it ) influence and I applaud ( buy it ) you for your fortitude and strength ( buy it ) of character...you alone know your needs and wants ( buy it ) and you certainly do not need the additional torture of ( buy it ) knowing that most of the OFC regulars are suggesting ( buy it ) you to do anything you do not ( buy it ) want to do! Hang in there and ( buy it ) congratulations on staying strong... |

Fitting 15 guitars in cases was no problem. |

Location: Tennessee | Nice. I am totally stoked with mine. You'll probably be real happy you got the standard neck as the wide neck feels a LOT bigger, so unless you wear real big gloves ... anyway, you won't know the difference until you play both, so if you do the Rocky Raccoon Memorial Black Hills of Dakota OFC gathering next summer, I'll bring mine and you can compare. In the meantime, enjoy the heck out of it. |

I did this project to get my dream vision Adamas and I think I achieved the goal very nicely.
I sold #1 because I can't keep 2 guitars and to be honest I really can't afford to keep #8/8
I may have to gig with it a bit though to make sure....
that boost button sure is a sweet idea......
and the stealth look.....
BTW I doubt there will be any more limited OFC editions..... |

I don't know what your process is for coming up with the specs, but it works. The Koa seemed to come out of left field, and the OFC II really pushes people's button. I hope you get another crack at it. |

I thought about getting you gift certificate for a course with Dale Carnegie, but then I realized that the only likely outcome would be that poor man running screaming from the room. |

I love ya man but your website really does little justice for your goods.
I can live with the rug but you need to fly Damon out for a little Photo training and talk serious with Wabbit/DVD/? about your website. It is holding you back.
Then have it ready in time for the OFC III! |

Either oldies or RIs of the oldies lately. I'm glad these all sold, so I don't feel compelled to want it. The LAV Koa was about as radical as I get. |
