I know I owe some out there but I am really confused on where they go etc.
PLUS they confused my order once again and I got duplicates etc.
So If I owe you straps please send me an e mail. I will sort these out first.
Any leftovers will be offered for sale here. |

It came with a leather strap with the Ovation oak leaf pattern the length of it. It is a fairly wide strap, maybe 4 to 4 1/2" wide. The strap is not exactly in great condition but is still usable.
Did Ovation offer "official" straps back then and if so for how long? |

I know it was working at one point becuase I've checked them out before - maybe I'll just email them directly, get the price list and then come back and order through Al. Simple enough. |

Location: Delaware | Am I supposed to remove the strap everytime I put my 1711 back into the case? Even with the cutouts around the body of guitar in the case, the strap seems to make the case difficult to snap. I don't want the strap to press against the guitar too hard. What's the standard operating procedure for this? |

Location: Tennessee | There's probably no SOP for this, just whatever works for the individual. For me, generally all the straps stay on my O's when they go in the case ... but I use fairly thin (no padded) straps. I remove the top of the strap only (leaving the strap attached to the bottom strap button), run the strap all the way up the bowl and neck, lay the guitar in the case (the strap rests in the neck cutout under the neck) and fold the top over the peghead and attach the top strap hole to one of the tuner posts. The cases close fine for me, and the process has worked for many years with no problems. YMMV.
Some guitars/cases (mostly non-O's) don't work so well so the straps have to come off. |

Anyone owning an original slothead or 47 RI should be interested in this. Al had some custom straps made that have special attachments to connect to the nose ring on these slothead guitars. VERY COOL. And as usual, the quality of the straps from Longhollow Leather is supurb. Sorry for the blantent plug, but these are just too good not to boast about. I've got three - one on each slothead.

My OFC strap is one of the best things I own, no other accessory is so fitting for it's task. I did not give it to my son, Bailey Jr., when I gave him my Viper. He will have to join and buy his own, which I will strongly recommend.

Love Ya!!!
I have one GREAT acoustic guitar, a Jap copy of a Martin D42, three very good mandolins, and a 1966 Fender Mustang with custom pickups by Seymour Duncan, (the mustang used Strat pickups so it is pretty good sounding).

My son,Bailey Jr, has the Viper, and he is playing it as it should be played. He would probably be happy to hear from you. He is "Probity" on "garageband.com", and "Probity1" on youtube.com, where you can see him playing the Viper on one of his songs or more.
Bailey Jr was our first born in 1958, do your own math as to his age.

I'll have to look him up. I have a little more of my shop back now and I was assembling a Viper last night. Used some Artec pups(10.5 Bridge, 6.5 Neck) and I hope to set it up tonight.
I'm glad you still have your fingers on the fretboards!
Anybody planning a little Southwest OFC gatherings? I would love to get with you and some others.
Probably need a litle daylight in a couple of months. |

Location: SoCal | Last weekend at NAMM, we met the owners of Long Hollow Leather , Phil & James Thompson.
We were able to check out all of the guitar straps shown on their website. The materials and workmanship were topnotch. Al has chosen a first-rate maker for the OFC guitar straps. You know you want one... you know you need one... and I heard that Al has another order going in real soon!
Phil gave me a bag of leather pick-pockets to share with folks at the OFC.
PM if interested. You'll get two pick-pockets. I have 24 sets to send out.
You pay the shipping via PayPal. $3 in the 48 US States.
I'll respond to your PM with our PayPal address and use PayPal shipping to the address provided in your payment. |

I'm a curious man, so I googled Campbell River, British Columbia .
No wonder you like to share punches. Get's cold up there, eh?
Never been, but I have been to Seattle. Had a ball. Missed out on the ferry to Vancouver. Dang.
Don't drink anymore. Hated the payback. Would smoke a little pot, but my employer won't allow. Oh well. I'm set to retire in a couple years.
Come on down sometime. We got lots of pretties, unlike my ugly sister. She wouldn't like you anyway, I think. :p
