A strange metal object came loose inside my daughter's Adamas tonight. Ideas? Approx 2" long with a tab on one end. I will attempt a pic upload from my phone.

A piece just like that was found at the Roswell site. Initially authorities said it was part of an alien spacecraft, but later they recanted and said it fell out of a guitar.

It is necessary though!
Likely not radioactive...
She says the can is loose but everything still works. It came loose during a band rehearsal. She texted me the picture with great worry that her beloved Ute might have a serious problem. Gotta love technology - a text message with picture to my phone while I'm away on a trip, so I post to a forum where a nearly instant response solves the mystery!

There are two screws on the inside of the can that secure the can to the bowl, via that thingy you found. You'll need to remove the can to reinstall the part. Nothing broken, one of the screws must have vibrated loose.

With the wonders of Skype I talked her through opening the hatch and reinstalling the wing. Somewhere in the conversation she tricked me into giving her Al's phone number and my credit card number for some doodads she needs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
