Nice find on the ersatz Academy/Applause! |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | It's OK. Usual wear on the "first- four". Have to repair the cracked bum, around the end peg. Top isn't too bad. No major cracks. Date under the fretboard extention says "FEB 5 1976". Bowl will have to be resurfaced/refinished, after the bowl repair. Bridge is in good shape. No tags or labels, but it definitely is an AA-14, with the broccoli head. Have to decide what to do with the rosette- only half of it exists.
Anywho, the BFLG is active in this quarter! |

Location: Caribou, ME | Feb '76 is quite early! If I had known that I might have bid. I'm looking for one to chop up and either use for parts or as a cutaway model...just because I am who I am I guess. Given the early production though, I probably would have shoved it in the "Applauses that need repair" pile which is getting taller.... |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | I have repaired the cracks around the end-peg with some JB Weld, and sanded it out. I am attempting to restore the pebblegrain pattern with some clabbered polyurethane varnish, and some judicious use of an old toothbrush. We shall see how that turns out, after I reshoot some matte-black paint on the bowl.
I am closely assessing whether there is enough of the fretridges left to relevel the tops. Otherwise, I think I will grind them off, and reslot the fretboard, to glue in some new fretwires. Really, got nothin' to lose with the releveling scenario.
Since the bowl has an output jack hole already, I figure I will install one of my FET preamps I built, awhile ago.

Location: Orlando, FL | Nice! I've never really played an Applause, but I've been pondering a AA14 in natural finish that looks pretty good at a pawn shop here for $99. The action is a bit on the high side, not terrible though. |
