Location: SoCal | Don't want to sell this guitar. I'll never have an opportunity to have anything like it again, but I need the bucks.
Built in 2007, only 12 are in existance. This is #3 of 12. Commissioned by our own Al Pepiak, it is based on the #47 reissues which came out in 2006. The blue is based on the original slotheads (at my suggestion). The electronics are the reissue of the original 2 knobber (stereo).
The guitar had some original issues, all of which have been ironed out. The bowl paint when I got the guitar had a run in it. It's been resprayed. The electronics had a bug in it and was a pain getting fixed. They were finally replaced and are perfect. The strap ring came loose. It was repaired at the factory. Using the swivel connector Al provided keeps it in perfect shape.
The only other issue is the mounting ring paint under the area where my right arm rests. It doesn't last. I've seen this issue on other Adamii (specifically the 08 Collectors) that have the original mounting ring. If this is going to be a museum piece for you then have it repainted. If it's going to be a player, then consider a badge of honor. It's being played!
I'll include the luggage tag and the original OFC strap that came with it. Email me for pics. The carbon case is gone, traded to somebody with a 2080. It will come with a modern Ovation case, top of the line.
Cost? $5000. The last original slothead went for $12,000. This guitar has been described as 90% of an original at less than half the cost. It real is a great guitar.

That said, I have been there and understand that sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do...
Folks, this is a great guitar: and truly beautiful...it is worth every penny Paul is asking and someone is going to get a fantastic guitar...If I didn't have other pressing issues, I would be on this...
All the best! |

Location: SoCal | Only correction to Paul's post is the last original pre-production slothead went for $12,500 three years ago (# 50)...and I should know. Also, well worth it. I was given the opportunity by a friend to obtain one. It wasn't a purchase, it was a transfer of custody to care for and play a rare instrument.
We really haven't had much discussion of the original slotheads, 47 RI, and the OFC I lately. Many of the newer members have never had an opportunity to play these wonderful instruments. If you can, get to a regional get-together of OFC'ers and you may have the opportunity to drool while playing one.
The archives are filled with the frustration and effort by Al over a number of years to have the OFC I built. The anquish that a few of us went through waiting for our guitar. The absolute joy when it arrived. It was not only a remarkable instrument, it was our affirmation of support for the Ovation Fan Club. As such, it is a very special guitar.
I have to admit that at one time, I considered selling the OFC I #7 as I have #3 of the 47RI and #50 of the original pre-production. Glad I didn't as the OFC I gets more play than either of the other two slotheads.
This might not be the time for many of our members but if it is, consider it...you may not have a chance in the future. It is very rare that an Adamas slothead becomes available.

I''ll never forget the excitement of seeing the arrival of a guitar that is far better than I deserve. Mine doesn't get played as much as it should, but I hope I never have to get rid of it. I'll probably never spend more money on a guitar, but it was worth it. I'm sorry for Paul's misfortune. |

It was a special event when the guitars were delivered at the tour. I also have a picture or 2 of you and your guitar. I hope you find a way to hold on to it.

On July's Ofc calendar, there is a blue and also a brown slothead.
I love both of them. |

Location: Munich, Germany | These slothead reissues are the best Adamas guitars I have ever played. Maybe the best of all guitars I have ever played.
I never got the chance to play one of the originals, but they can't be that much better.
If you missed the reissue run of #47, didn't get one of the twelve OFC Is in the first place and did not custom order one - grab this one here quick. It's all you could ever wish in a guitar. I have two of these - and I won't let any of them go. Never.
Best luck with the sale,

I've played the original #45 and it's a wonderful guitar - there is a photo of a clandestine meeting between AJ and Paul handing over guitars in a darkened parking lot. Whoever snaffles it will get a great deal. |

I just wish I had the talent to justify that (admittedly deserving) cost.
Good luck |

Whoever buys this guitar will be breathing rarified air ... I've played many guitar costing multiples of this one that are nowhere near the sound, feel and uniqueness of the OFC guitar. I sure hope this gets picked up by someone here instead of it winding up in a collection overseas. |

It's #10. Well, the one which was owned by Karl.... Whenever he wants to play it, he knows where it is.
They are sounding really........ yes I could not find the word in my limited stock of words, but the bottom end is spectacular and the highs are ringing like a bell.
I've had posted some pics on my ning page which is now shout down, but I will go on vacation in a few days. Then I will upload the pics to the Albums here...
Very proud Bernie!!! |

Location: Sydney, Australia | Paul it's a great guitar and worth the money, but to sell it for that price you need to be selling it at the same time as someone who wants to buy it AND has the money available. You'd probably get the money faster by selling a number of cheaper guitars - even better if they are things that you could replace if/when the finances improve. OFC 1s don't come along very often. Do you have a kidney you don't need?

I had mine out yesterday for an extended play. Fabulous guitar. It plays and sounds in the league of the $7-10K guitars I've been fortunate enough to play. No question about it ... it is getting better with age. |

Thanks for clearing, Bobbo.
And I think it is bad manner of me to mention asking for #1 here.
I'm sorry, Paul.
Anyway, good luck with the sale.

First, good news for me.
Second, what is the reasonable price or your asking price?
Thanks.
