If I end up getting an Ovation 12 string, what strings are recommended ? Probably depends on which model I can get my hands on.

Just like any string question, this has many answers.
It would depend on the sound you like.

I use D'Addario EJ36 80/20 Bronze.
I would also recommend D'Addario EXP36, also 80/20 Bronze.

The EXP's cost twice as much but the last many times as long.
And I wanna avoid changing strings on a 12-er for as long as possible.
So you could get the cheaper EJ's first, and go to the EXP's if you like the sound.
(new EXP's sound like month-old EJ's)

Thomasik-Infeld Vienna strings. These were an early birthday gift from Bburg and they just boom. The sustain is un real. A little expensive but well worth it. On all my other guitars I use D'Addario, I fact thats what I had on my Adamas 12er prior to getting these in the mail.

I like Pyramid best on the 12er.

For 12s, I prefer the same type of stings as I do on the 6s . . . preferably complimentary, but more likely whatever is on sale.

I don't find any difference in makes, once the gauge is right. local shops only ever have 'extra light gauge' which translates to 10-46, 10-47 or so. I have found some come with a 9 on the high octave G (the highest pitched string on a 12-string) but a 10 works better on my Pacemaker
